  1. Yeah, I was worried about that!!{windgat sien sy gat!!}
  2. My bad...4 years of being tubless...second set of Conti's...
  3. 90% = off road...(except the route I cycle to get there!!) Perhaps the offroad scene here is still relatively thorn free? Compared to upcountry?
  4. Always do what YOU think is right!!! It might not always be the same everytime...
  5. Fanie - post that (wound) pic again!!....Epic... Must also admit - great stuff that spray...My laaitie uses it after most of his rugby matches...works wonders for ache's & pains.
  6. What WORRIES me more is WHY there are so many sob stories about defective Brytons??? Why not an similar amount of complaints about Garmins??? I know now what my next product will be....definately NOT Bryton...
  7. Just stating the obvious.... haven't had a pucture in 4 years now!! I purposefully aim for thorns nowdays...
  8. JB - that sounds feasible. As an aside...THE ONLY CLEANING i give my brakes...is a once over with the hose pipe - running water (just to get rid of mud, dust, small grit) - then the rotors get a wipe with an acetone rag, just to remove any accidental spillage of degreaser etc that might have ended up on the rotors from my conventional cleaning practices... Then...new pads always need to be "broken in" as per JB instructions....I wet the system with water ...then go bloody fast down the road and GENTLY featrher the brakes till they are dry... works everytime! Finally - i only use resin pads on a matched resin rotor (Shimano DEORE XT)....and four yeras later - only have used 3 sets of pads....mud - water - dust - you name it, i ride it!!
  9. Lemme know what your thoughts / experiences are...
  10. Still say since PPA is involved..there should be a resiprosity(like with golf clubs) where onemembership gets you discounted at the other venues... or ablanket membership covering a couple of venues...
  11. By the sound of it -- your'e doing everything right... Just - it might be a tyre / rim incompatability...are those jobbies tubeless? Something you can try as a lasresort...without stans first... when hanging your rim - i use a lugguage starp and fit it around the tyre...pulling it tight so that it forces the bead evenly onto the tyre...from here on in you can almost inflate it with a floor pump - a compressor of any sorts will definately be able to do it!! then once seated... let air out - open a sectiopn and pour stans in and start sloshing it around as per youtube instructions! good luck & report bact to us here..
  12. I HOPE the Jub-jub trial will set the scene for future prosecutions!! I'm rooting for a 25yr sentence without parole...
  13. Being a Conti fan myself.... I did ead some +tive reports on the Racin Ralphs...here on e the Hud 29er wheers thread.. so, maybe i'll give them a try - until they are worn and then back to Conti's for me...
  14. I've placed an order for its little brother, the Anthem X 29er 1 Fox spec's and soem SLX & XT compnentry... Cannot wait...couple of sleeps left!!
  15. Faark me!! That must hurt.... Hope he still gets a podium finish for all that effort!!
  16. Gotto agree with you on this one... Guys, Why did you not go the Ghetto route inthe first place??? It immediately tkes care of any possible leaks at valve, rim nipples etc. Only place left over for the sealant to seal is the actual tyre itsself!! Simple as that...
  17. Yip, I also heard this before...whenhoning the ploice..just say you "think" you saw a gun / heard gunshots being fired... THAT gets them to priority #1 and they are there in aflash...always easier to apologise AFTERWARDS by saying yuo were mistaken/ confused in all the action!!
  18. Demmit!! Hope the cat is also OK??? c'mon catgirl...your'e losing your mojo... Seriously: strongs...the violation of one's privacy is what will get me most!!
  19. Hi all I've posted this under Chit Chat...but forgot about this here dedicated thread.. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/121481-commuting-lynwood-helping-out-a-school-kid/ It would be great if anyone can offer assitance & or advice to this young lady...
  20. Sadly, that is why Piet-se-fiets is exactly where it is today...(after many years of existence) - still a small, little unobtrusive shop...that i drive past every day to and from work...i never had an inclination to evevn drop in to see them or what they have to offer... They serve a small section of the local student population that has "Game" style bicycles and does not know the front end from the back... and so it will stay! Serious cyclists will not frequent there...
  21. Don't give up!! I think your body still needs to adapt to the low carb intake + energy expenditure....give it some more time and come report back to us...
  22. Do yourself and us a favour - ride that drivtrain for as long as you can!! I'm currently doing just thta...you wouldn't believe it but I'm getting plenty more km's out of my drivetrain...past a thousand km's i'd guess. I made the descision to carry on when I got to the 1/8 mark...and thought what the heck...I'll just replace the entire drive train when needed...and it is still not needed!! no slipping & no breaking of chains either...I'm heavy and not nimble on the pedals either... I guess not many okes will agree with my "experiment" but I'm pleasantly surprized at this stage...
