  1. agree 100%...I want to see the back-end of the field as well...give us a 2hr highlight package!!
  2. Auntie Jax..pay them no attention!!! Just ride it like you stole it!! Hat's off to you...
  3. must agree! The oil seal i took out was fairly OK...and clean as new after i washed them in a bit of propyl alcohol. I'm keeping them for a back-up...the seals i took off a bit rough, and think they might not be 100%...but next time I'll just remove the lowers legs without taking seals off...If all lokks OK, them seasl stay on - just replace the oil!!
  4. Flou maybe you should contact me...I've done it once sucessfully myself..and I'm prepared to "look"over your shoulder and teach you what i know...maybe a couple of beers in the process? The seal kit should cost you no more than R300 and I have 1L 10wt forok oil which I can go halvies with you for R50!! PM me is you are interested....I'll be glad to help.
  5. I've just done this myself two weekends ago....pretty easy (took me 2.5hrs as I was meticulous in checking and re-checking all my steps)...cost was R300 for the dust seals and R120 for a 1L fork oil....will last me 20+ services. I seriously doubts thta your fork's bushes needed changing...especially after 1 year and the stanchions being still OK? There will be (hopefully) some good feedback over here...some guys really know what they doing, fork wise!!
  6. Thanks Matt!! the Epic site is a bit of a maze to get to specific results....will be nice to have a concise effort here where i can only see the hubbers that i'm interested to follow...
  7. Around 50km...flippen amazing...the human spirit, that is!!
  8. A true HERO has just been born!!
  9. bum hurting...funny yuo should mention this...{see my above post} this person has to go and ride AGAIN tomorrow...with a bottled up bum!!
  10. Just read this on another fred.... "Hubber Blits is also riding - Team Braveheart. Her team mate came in riding the last 50+Km on Blits's water bottle - they had trouble with his seat and ended up placing her bottle over the post just to be able to finish." Now tell me that this not HERO stuff!! A "Pro" would have summoned his team lackey ....only to relieve him of his seat...and merrily carried on...maybe lost 2-3 min in the whole process... ===> imagaine 50kms on a water bottle??
  11. geez i thought you have lost weight...but suppose one cannot loose those BIG BONES... give em horns...i know you will not just give up!! it's not in your genes to just give up...they will have to drag you off the course and to hospital...if that is the case...
  12. hence why they are my heroes!!! ~4hrs...pfft!! try 9-10 hours a day - for a for an entire week...
  13. Here is a challenge to the Pro's.... Try and ride for 10 hrs straight for 7 days and fix you own bike; prepare your own nutrition for next stage; sleep on a flimsy mattress; wash your own clothes; etc etc. Wonder how many will actually maintain this? The REAL heroes are the ones in the second half of the field!! hats off to you!!
  14. Hmmm...quite harsh opinions these!! My 2c: IF you can afford the entrance fee and IF you can finish in the designated cut-off time....YOU DESERVE TO BE THERE!! Finish & klaar. It is very easy to "slouch on your couch" and make silly comments like these... The only issue I have is with sponsored riders (i.e. celebs and the like) who did not fight / beg / borrow / steal to get an entry ticket!! Not to mention all the hours of preperation not done!! They bail at the slightest bit od discomfort and no harm done and no money wasted (it was sponsor's money)... Those peeps deserve to give their spot up to more deserving riders... What exactly is wrong with finishing every stage just within the allocated time??
  15. Let's not forget Tankman (#213-1).... and his soon to be missus (Ilse)? ..(if they can still tolerate each other after this little event) Team Nordex Energy SA (213-1) Riding for a a good cause as well...The Chaeli campaign Go Tankman!!
  16. Isn't this just part and parcle of the sport?? i mean why MTB if you are too scared to put your bike through some mud? Rather sacrifice the weight (couple of grams) and put more sturdy components on... Saw this again inthe Epic stage 1 - notioced how many Pro's punctured because they were all on light racing tubeless tyres??? IF they had invested in normal, proper USt tyres (yes, they are heavier) they would perhaps have reached the podium???
  17. must agree...even the TV ref gets it wrong on occassion??/ W.T.F?? worst reffing (consistently week in - week out) in quite a few seasons...every weekend there are bad calls!!
  18. Yip, once you advance beyond the point of no return...i.e. using your drivetrain for that "extra" 1000+km...before replacing soemthing that HAD WORN INDIVIDUALLY...then the only option left is to start resh & anew...with all 3 items replaced. In the long run it is probably still the cheaper option...i.m.h.o.
  19. What a shocking last line-out!! Cost them a bonus point...ant relegated to bottom of the log!! Wow, I'd never imagaine that even the LIONs will be higher up the log!! Go SHARKS.....
  20. Thanks for at least owning up....that alone take some balls!! I guess an official vehicle front & back would have at least informed Joe public that soemt out of the ordinary ws going one...(not just jackass cyclists in the publics perception...)
  21. Wayne you DESERVE that frame....enjoy every km with it!!
  22. Care to part with a 180mm?/ I'd be interested in getting one.... PM me...
  23. I do! But it is mostly to "signal" to the driver that had just cut me off / jumped the red robot / changed lanes without signalling / does not have a number plate (pick any of these)....and my finger ain't pointing horizontal...
  24. It works in most 3rd world countries...Dehli - India, Jakarta-Indonesia, entire Africa...why will that not work here??
