  1. $1999 tax excl for the FENIX 8 microled 51mm .... could be Garmins first R40k watch when it gets here 🤯
  2. Garmin coming for Apple Watch / Samsung Galaxy's lunch?
  3. R400 does seem very high, was the item labelled correctly? ive also had the sense that free shipping on Aliexpress can at times mean that the local carrier just adds their fee.
  4. Personally had a Thule VeloCompact 3 bike carrier with the 4th bike rail, and it worked well with up to 3 ebikes and a MTB. (around 65kgs in e-bikes alone). You can get them on the hub for around R10k, ive seen a 4th bike rail floating here too. The thule sits nicely in the draft of the car, you dont feel the weight or any drag (attached to the gooseneck on a ML with air suspension). I wouldnt recommend using the tilt mechanism to access the boot without help, but better to offload the bikes. The thule folds neatly to chuck in the boot of the car while out riding, or when not needed, i had hooks in my garage to easily hang it out of the way. Considering the value of the bikes you are suggesting to carry, (+/- R300k), the thule locking system is the best ive used, but not invincible.

    [Event] Dirty DC

Any teams looking for a rider?
  6. Well said! also - i miss ad comments, allows the gatekeepers to chastise those advertisers that dare step out of line 😂
  7. Ali have titanium replacements which i recommend: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mMufBql Pricey tho.
  8. Theyve been grading the course this week, so expect some nice surface to ride!
  9. Can confirm Epix is compatible with extended display on Garmin 130. a couple for sale here on the hub, the one in the box from gauteng is my recommendation
  10. Used one of These for years. The watch will face scratching etc if you do any dirt you need a heart rate strap which i never enjoyed, vs convenience of wrist reading. Adding a cheap Garmin 130 in extended display mode is the way to go 👌🏻
  11. Final prediction for Sunday morning --> DDP by piano falling 😆IYKYK
  12. Weather in the area on Sunday morning
  13. still?
  14. Kate riding a broom handle and smashing a decade old course record is very impressive
  15. Looking even warmer for Saturday 👌🏻 🫶🏻Feed Zone at Ouplaas A highlight of your ride for the 60 and 100 milers will be the Ouplaas feed zone, where riders can enjoy a mouthwatering, freshly prepared roosterkoek and ice cold Coke. This is more than just a pit stop, it’s a chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy true platteland hospitality.
  16. Weather looking good for Saturday.
  17. Ive bought 4 bikes from BikeMarket, all at excellent prices, all sold at a profit when i was done with them. BM's trade in service is much like webuycars, i dont understand how folk use WBC considering their terrible offers, yet their warehouses stand full of cars from many folk who disagree with me. All industries need a lowest common denominator, these business absorb low end volumes that actually make the entire market succeed. Whether we are offended or not, we need them.
  18. I got ChatGPT to imrpove James's message - think BikeMarkets tact could be improved to be less offensive: Hi there, My name is James and I’m with BikeMarket.co.za. I came across your advert for the ********* and wanted to reach out with a cash offer of R**,***. We understand that this may be lower than your expectations, but our aim is to provide a fast, hassle-free sale for those looking for a quick, secure transaction. If this sounds like something you’d consider, I’d be happy to guide you through the next steps. We would just need your preferred contact number and email to proceed with payment arrangements. Our offer is valid for the next 3 working days, and of course, you're welcome to reach out with any questions. Kind regards, James BikeMarket.co.za
  19. For this ad? https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/789390/trek-emonda-sl-6stunning-bargain Any interest from James is a great signal that you are selling something sellable - ignore the offer. Im surprised at your discontent, you are a well known trader, isnt this just business? (PS Bough my first road bike from you)
  20. Recently dealt with a zero post member for a bike sale, went really well, and a great addition to the community. i dont believe we should ignore newcomers. A way easier way to deal with newbie sales is to just use (insist on) bikehub pay or just meet in person. And ofc - if a deal is too good to be true, it probably is!
  21. Interest and queries are one thing, confirmed sales, or marked as sold? not questioning these numbers, my recent experience just doesnt relate.
  22. Mountain biking hasn't disappeared, but it's lost cultural momentum to road and gravel riding for a few key reasons. Gravel, in particular, offers a lower barrier to entry — less gear complexity, broader terrain access, and a more community-driven race scene. Meanwhile, MTB fragmented into multiple sub-disciplines (XC, trail, enduro, downhill), each with different gear, skill sets, and venues, making it harder to sustain unified event calendars. As MTB events declined, so did the sense of purpose for many recreational riders — no races, no upgrades, no group motivation. That, in turn, eroded resale demand and made full-suspension bikes feel like high-risk purchases with limited return. So yes, concerns about maintenance and resale are real, but they're symptoms of a deeper issue: the sport lost its common narrative, while gravel and road found theirs.
  23. Im a frequent contributor on this thread, but honestly temu is just easier --> here is a perfectly manufactured one for R60 https://share.temu.com/WhzBPuWdOfA
  24. Dont let it get to you, in the end its an open market. Also - if you trigger their interest, you can bet there will be an actual market for whatever you're selling, so its a good signal. Over the years, some of the best deals ive bought were from WeBuyBicycles/BikeMarket, they do often pay it forward as well.
  25. They were a week apart, and honestly, nasrec is only used for parking ... so only a partial venue conflict. I feel bad for the organisers, im imagining some over eager G20 security advisor pulled this lever.
