  1. https://www.trekbikes.com/za/en_ZA/equipment/bike-accessories/bike-lights/bike-light-sets/c/E229/ I run this option because I ride in the dark. Front light under my Garmin and rear light attached to the saddle rails. Neat and very effective along with the Garmin connection, where you can see the battery life and get them to switch on and off when you start/finish your ride.
  2. We saw this poor guy on Suikerbossie the other morning. Would it be a boom slang? (I don't think that it was sleeping, so may have been squished by a car and this is as far as it got)
  3. That was wrapped up quickly!
  4. I am glad that he is staying on and having another go at it. But I find it amazing that he rode with the wrong bike setup for so long. https://road.cc/content/news/chris-froome-reveals-bike-set-discrepancies-304917
  5. Lots has changed since my post - new bike and new lights (Trek and Bontrager Blendr). But there are more options now than there were back in 2018.

  7. I had this Teng wrench for ages. It was great that you can take it to get calibrated by their workshop. Bit sets: https://teng-tools.co.za/products/m3813tx https://teng-tools.co.za/products/m3812

  9. We were there for a DC Team ride, not to race in echelons in the crosswinds. Our final mileage was 120km, so not as good as the original 150km, but better than the end result of less than 100km.
  10. Then vs Now
  11. And ahead of last year's pace too!
  12. The wind was a bit crazy, so they sent marshals out to drive the course. This meant delaying the start while they waited for feedback. Eventually they decided to shorten the course with the finish back in Wellington. But not at the current start venue. And then there was confusion about where to actually start. We decided to drive back to Cape Town and ride there (great decision!)
  13. I wish!! No. I didnt go extravagant. Just the new to replace the old (Machine is dual boiler and grinder is faster and quieter)

  15. What rims would you propose ?
  16. My Dad is from Holland. He said that the only reason that the (fancy) bikes had gears was because of the wind.

  18. Which DT Swiss wheels are you looking at ?
  19. I just had a wheelset built up with Pro 5's and Race Race ARC 30 (alu) rims. DT Swiss spokes seem to be in short supply, so went with double butted Pillar spokes and brass nipples. That rear hub sounds so good!
