  1. Helmets are one hit wonders. If they take a knock, they have done their job. They really should be replaced after a crash, even if you cant see any damage. It may look intact, but could be compromised the next time you need it so it wont be able to do its job properly. A helmet that comes apart or looks bad after a crash has done a great job of absorbing and dissipating the forces from the impact. Don't see it as a weakness.
  2. I hope that you aren't hurt and that the helmet took most of the impact. I went down that mat on Saturday morning and I can confirm that it is slippery with not much of a run-off at the bottom. My back tyre tried to take its own line 1/2 way down, but I managed to recover. That section from there to the gate provides a fair opportunity for injury (I haven't been there in about 2 years, so got a bit of a fright).
  3. That is mind boggling And wouldn't fit in my kitchen! How's that grinder ? It looks equally dazzling https://weberworkshops.com/products/eg-1?variant=31624830386229
  4. He fixed his balls
  5. That ad campaign might cause a stir on this thread :
  6. I am running the same gearing on my bike, but I added a Wolftooth Roadlink DM to make the chain, cassette and rear mech to play nicer - especially in the big ring.
  7. His balls are broken
  8. Luckily Remco didn't see that, otherwise his balls would really have been broken!
  9. Amazing finish at yesterday's stage. (What on earth was happening in the back ground @ around 10s ?)
  10. Obituary .....Absolutely Brilliant !! (May have been posted before, but is more relevant than ever) Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense , who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: - Knowing when to come in out of the rain; - Why the early bird gets the worm; - Life isn't always fair; - And maybe it was my fault. ...Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death, -by his parents, Truth and Trust, -by his wife, Discretion, -by his daughter, Responsibility, -and by his son, Reason. He is survived by his 5 stepbrothers; - I Know My Rights - I Want It Now - Someone Else Is To Blame - I'm A Victim - Pay me for Doing Nothing Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
  11. Dan Craven's brand catching a bit of the limelight (with South Industries) for a nice Cosmopolitan African vibe https://escapecollective.com/tech-gallery-2023-made-handmade-bicycle-show-part-seven/
  12. If you're quick, you can get a reasonable ride/photo between the rain clouds
  13. So awesome One of my favourite rides!
  14. Apparently its a fairly common issue that Shimano has not acknowledged. Quite bizarre! I ride the same cranks, so best I take note
  15. Those Sonoff gadgets are clever! I use one with a timer to turn my coffee machine on and off.
  16. You cannot change what has already happened, but perhaps this could be kept in mind for future race planning. Add a few more 'what if' scenarios and think of a few contingencies. There is not doubt that it was a bit of a **** show. That should be acknowledged. Not defended. Was it avoidable? Maybe? Maybe not. Should it happen again ? Definitely not!
  17. Thanks for the tips and advice I ended up getting a Dewhot 20l (Fan Forced) outdoor unit with 2 x 48kg bottles that also feed the gas hob. This unit has a remote control unit, so we don't have to go outside to adjust anything. While waiting for quotes, the existing P.O.S. solar geyser contraption started spraying water all over the place. Luckily, its external so no drama. So, I had that removed. So glad that is gone!
  18. Sure that will wash out ? They cant be that wrecked...
  19. I think that he is talking about the bike that I posted earlier (the one that looks like a Merida) https://www.evil-bikes.com/products/chamois-hagar
  20. I don't have a pair, but would love to! So, please post pics so that we can live vicariously through your experiences
  21. Like this ? If they put these wagon wheels on a small fame, they would: A. Be silly B. Have to do all sorts of bendy things with the tubes to get reasonable stand over height
  22. https://bikerumor.com/new-bicycle-wheel-size-moots-prototype-750d-wheels-tires-wtb/ Because gravel is trendy at the moment...
  23. I wonder if a Giant or Ritchey seat mast topper would fit. The Ritchey ones were used on Willier and Focus, so I imagine its reasonably 'standard'
  24. I heard from someone that he sends letters threatening legal action against people who speak against him. So, he is reading this. He must have a busy time between the BikeHub and 4x4community forums... I am also interested to know how he feels about the forums hosting these threads about him. If he is threatening the users, he must surely be going for the actual hosts too.
