  1. Not particularly good prices... Like everyday, not only on that one day
  2. More like this, washed down with a few Red Bull espressos
  3. I don't think that's a crap idea at all. Most of the bike brands have an aero model, which are reasonably light compared to TT bikes these days. Slap some aero bars on and 'Bob's your Uncle!' But I would imagine that the clever okes on the teams have already thought of that and settled on whatever they are riding there today. The crashes on the 1st corner were a bit strange. And now its starting to rain...

  5. Don't lift your bike by the saddle/seatpost when your dropper is down
  6. And stupid crowds unfortunate combination at that exact moment https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/tv-and-photo-motorbikes-suspended-for-stage-15-after-pogacars-attack-blocked/
  7. This was briefly discussed in the TdF thread. Any comments on this ? I am surprised that selection would be based on performance during events, rather than general performance or possibly specific tests. https://road.cc/content/news/chris-froome-let-down-tour-de-france-snub-302523 I had forgotten about Gary Blem - still wrenching !

  9. They look clever from a compact and portability point of view, but for R20k you would get more value from a 'trolley inverter' that you could link up to your DB and run a few lights and light appliances. Not this one specifically, but something like this: https://www.geewiz.co.za/load-shedding-solutions/180855-axpert-type-pure-sine-3000va-inverter-trolley-2x-100ah-lithium-battery-12-hour-battery-life-kit-3000w-50a-pwm-solar-with-lithium-battery-3000-cycles-2560wh.html
  10. I am finally getting around to upgrading my system. Well, replacing it actually. 8kW Sunsynk + Hubble AM-5 battery I will get another battery next month. We had the roof tested for asbestos - that came back positive, so solar panels will be a problem. The electricians are run off their feet, so trying to get a slot with my guy is challenging. Just as Stage 6 kicks in!
  11. Another shout-out to Dayle and his crew: I need a service kit for my dropper, but there are none available. I happened to bump into him buying coffee and asked when they might be arriving (if he had ordered). He said: No problem. I will strip and dropper and make a kit for you to collect. Awesome! Now to get the dropper out the frame. Its loose, but wont come out by more than a centimetre. The dropper cable is free where it runs into the frame, so it must be caught somewhere inside.
  12. Yes, I remember things like that. Cannondale had that Six13, which they played games with and I recall one rider having a spanner drilled and bolted under his bottle cage to make the 6.8kg limit. What I meant with my question is that the 6.8kg weigh limit used to be a bit of an obsession years ago, and seems like less of an issue now. Or is it because its so easily achievable, it isn't a 'thing' anymore ?
  13. Do you mean the NON-Scientific, Trial and Error way ? Sounds expensive...
  14. That whole video bothered me, from the dude on the bike to the silver car cutting in front to everyone seemingly just driving away. I wonder where that took place?
  15. That is quite a machine draped in all sorts of expensive and aero trickery. Are the riders still chasing the 6.8kg limit ? I am not referring to this bike, but more 'in general' ?
  16. That is a great tool because it shows how many variables there are in the equation. The tyre casing makes quite a big difference, and I find it hard to interpret some of the marketing mambo about suppleness vs toughness vs puncture protection etc.
  17. Similar sentiments with the South Carbon and Pyga threads, It seems that top quality, world class, South African products must also be cheap.
  18. These are not cheap items, but they are still WELL short of Assos and even Castelli equivalents. (having said that, I think its hard to compare as I don't know what their merino stuff is like)
  19. But not in the way that we thought !
  20. I am glad that you worded it like that and weren't alluding to extra-terrestrial performances...
  21. I was going to suggest a light and fruity pilsner - it goes nicely with most savoury breakfasts and some porridges.
  22. Making the most of the sun after all the rain we have had. (Miller's Point yesterday and Tokai this morning)
  23. Nicely done. Those builds look great! (Check your width on the Crest rims)
  24. Interesting that this popped up yesterday: https://off.road.cc/content/feature/south-african-mtb-brands-you-should-know-12853
