  1. I think it is a really cool idea. A pump doesn't give you the same ability to seat a tubeless tyre, large volume of air quickly. Also would be a lot less wasteful than co2 cartridges and over time cheaper? Why would it be any less safe than co2 cartridges where you are carrying something under extreme pressure, just needs to be designed to withstand that pressure and the quoted figures seem more than capable. 1st prize would be , if you were able to have it installed into existing frames. Very interesting, bring it on!
  2. Looks great Hydraulic brakes are soo much nicer than cable actuated, cable friction and maintenance a lot more than hydraulic. Much less friction should equal easier shifting. Also the problems on previous hydraulic shifting was on the front , not rear. more gears = nice, range is slightly more, clever solution to the freewheel issue, we'll see if it is structurally durable. I think it is actually lighter than cable or electric. I am biased against more electronics, complication possibilities and home maintenance. Cross compatibility on road and mtb, awesome. All in all a great concept
  3. Seat tube angle is actually 72.5 degrees Head tube angle is 69 degrees, which is pretty up to date with current trends for this type of bike. The BB drop is much lower than before and I find that it climbs and corners really well. The toptube is actually 7mm longer than than Spez Epic hardtail ( in L frame), the BB drop is 1mm lower and the HTA is 0.8 degrees slacker. It is obviously important to compare bikes of the same application type. What do you ride? No problem on our double black route, which is pretty steep. Super comfortable ride.
  4. A friend is having difficulty replacing a cracked KTM frame as they don't import it separately, so , that is probably not a good choice.
  5. The rims are slightly heavy( but not bad at all), so for the full built wheels to come in at that weight, the hubs must be pretty light. Great price! Well done Lyne!!
  6. Best to be dropped of in Tesselaarsdal, buy a permit for the Haarkapper at the postoffice and do the track over the mountain towards Stanford. That and then the routes outside Gansbaai see the post by Goosebay. Also very nice single track out at Beloftebos.
  7. These Gansbaai routes are really fantastic! Some proper mountain biking out there. I am very keen to try the newly cut bits Corrie.
  8. Lots of options , just, please remember you need a permit for the Hemel en aarde trails. Also for Haarkapper. Enjoy!!
  9. Can we enter on the day, late entries?
  10. Welcome to my car!! Lots of his other tracks lyrics still running around in my head. I would love to get a hold of that album again.
  11. I did the motorbike cover, but you need to wrap the whole thing with straps to keep the loose bits from flapping, worked pretty well. I have tried just leaving it and washing it later and it made an awful mess esp all the greased or lubed bits.
  12. Dear MDK i am not a big Epic fan, but you have perhaps had a very brief look at the map of the 2017 route. It has very little in common with the w2w reversed. You perhaps guessed that they are in the same area and therefore go along the same route. If they share 1km of the same track in hemel en aarde in reverse, I would be surprised. Tesselaardsdal, Haarkapper and Stanford back to Hermanus is totally new. W2w skips almost all the hard parts of Hemel en aarde. There may be many reasons to dislike the 2017 Epic, but Old hat route won't be one of them.
  13. A compressor does not always have a large volume of flow ,and very noisy, I gave mine to a friend and went back to a large volume floor pump. Bombs tend to congeal the slime. The garage is a dirty ride in the car away from my bikeshed. I think this is a fantastic idea esp on stage races or when touring. If you don't get it then maybe you have not done a large range of tyres on various rims
  14. I rode some of the track with Corrie recently and I can say with utmost confidence YOU GUYS ARE IN FOR A BLAST! Some proper mountainbiking. The guys doing the 65km need to bring their Big boy undies, there is plenty of climbing, but the track looks fantastic and there are some beautiful new sections which many of the distances will be doing. The fynbos is also looking awesome as you go through parts of Grootbos.
  15. Crossmark is not for MTB, it is for gravel grinding. It weighs 850gr and has no grip.It will last a long time, but you may find yourself wishing that time would pass.Ikon with EXO is very good as a rear tyre. 585gr and lasts about 2500km for me. Also has nice linear cornering grip and surprising grip in wet.
  16. Fabric Scoop ,Radius or Shallow , Elite or Race. Obviously have your sit bones measured, but then choose the relevant Scoop saddle. Most comfortable saddle I have ever tried. Saddles are always a personal choice.
  17. Lerouc I was there when Naas was helping to deal with this issue, I can definitely say that he did not see it as an unimportant issue. My entry and registration went well and the race and route were both fantastic!
  18. We have not seen the panga dude for months now. The area he was in has mostly been cleared of trees, and he was definitely in summer attire. I seriously doubt he is around, I have been riding the track and no sign of him. It should be fine. The fynbos is flowering and some nice wildlife around.
  19. PM me when you get here and we can make a plan.
  20. I have owned Hope hubs and DT swiss, all with lots of engagement points and fast engagement and still no problem on the AC. I often see guys mentioning this as an AC problem, but I particularly like riding difficult terrain and on a SS the hub engagement would be perhaps even more crucial. Obviously my 2c and personal subjective experience only.
  21. No, sorry to disagree. The 'slow' engagement issue has never bothered me and I have been on several sets of AC incl SS. I have and have had a few sets of 3:30 hubs and Crest wheels and can say with confidence that the AC freewheel and hubs are more robust ( incl bigger bearings). Wide lightning rims are Crest weight but Flow width ( also 107kg weightlimit) and cheaper than Crests, so I think an easy choice. The Neo looks good.
