  1. If I'm brutally honest, I'm not going to miss it. I was literally think about not renewing for 2024 the other day. It seems they've made the decision for me.

The streaming was incredibly laggy, to such an extent that I flat out refused to used it any longer and just use other another paid subscription service instead (I was one of the first sign ups for GCN+, when they had a miniscule sign up fee). The ball-ache always having to watch through a VPN for top races also got old fast.

*chilling at home on a Saturday a week before 947 with not a lot to do:

-decided to remove and deep clean chain

-YouTube’s how to remove quick link without the tool

    -removed chain

-soaked chain in clean green and boiling water a bunch of times(amazed at how much crap came out of chain..) I clean my chain with degreaser and a toothbrush very thoroughly pretty much weekly..

-put chain back and reattach quick link

STANDS BACK AND ADMIRES WORK.      💪🏼🥳🤘🏻

Casually doing some more reading and  research, read that quick links are not reusable and my chain has a much higher chance of breaking..!!😳😳

Races to bike shop for the correct tool and replacement quick link.!!🤣🤣🤣

Why do I do this sh$t.?!🙄🤣

The amount of times I reuse mine...

  3. Good morning Hubbers!

I was doing some deep cleaning of my transmission over the weekend, and after accidentaly removing the freebody (I didn't know that popped off that easily), I discovered one of the pawl of the freebody came undone.

Is this freebody reuseable, trash, or replace in a little while? As we know, stock is an issue in our count-ree ATM.

    Thanks!

Even bicycle wheels, I can never really understand how a "highend" bicycle wheel can cost more than a motorbike wheel, here we have a bespoke Carbon wheelset for a motorbike, made in small quantities, has to meet much higher safety standards, and is ised in some of the most expensive motocycles in the world, yet is still cheaper than many bicycle wheels???? The mind boggles

It has nothing to do with Peak Timing. They were the service provider on the day to do the physical timing, i.e. setup the equipment, time everyone, and upload the data to the database.

I'm note sure whether FinishTime or the Organiser would be doing the seeding. It's not mentioned who does the seeding. The organiser does other events, like the Nissan MTB series, some gravel events, etc., so they aren't new to the system of seeding.

It's just odd that someone like @Spinnekop finished inside the top positions on this screenshot below, which is the overall for all 97Km open category riders. The top 11 all rode faster than the winning Elite time, which might be possible with an eBike, but unlikely to be less than 2 hours. Some of these peeps would most likely have entered the 97Km event, and only did the 35Km route. It's not difficult to clear these results, or DQ them. No way a 57yo lady is capable of doing 2:14, and if she is, then she should be riding Elite and qualifying for the R100k prize purse.

I'm leaving the names in the open, as the results are available at this link, so I'm not violating any privacy issues when it's available publicly anyway... https://live.ultimate.dk/desktop/front/index.php?eventid=5880

A tip for the time/position conscious, don't start at the front of your group. The results are listed by nett time (mat to mat) and not gross time (gun to mat). I was in the top 10 for my start group, finishing ahead of a few people I know, yet the results shows I'm half a minute behind them (net time) yet ahead on gross time. Doesn't bother me, but I know some people bragging with their results showing a top 10, but they were closer to top 30 (still a good ride to be there at the finish).

Man, Oom Tony is a speed demon. I'd love to know his power required to do this event at that average speed.

I'm not sure I should say anything here🫢 But I'm on the other end of the spectrum. Got seeded in A. Never been in A in my life. Usually D,E sometimes C But never A. Only did a 3;20 last year and I don't think I'm even as fit as last year. (Kids keep you really busy). So I'll be the slowest guy in A. I know I can drop back but that 6:35 start time looks really appealing🫣 But ja, there must be a glitch in the matrix somewhere. And I only entered on Tuesday evening.

I have one baby and he's robbed my training time. But his cute face is worth it 🤣

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sepp is only one of two Yanks to have won the overall. Interestingly, Chris Horner (the other Yank) is the oldest winner to date, at the tender age of 41 in 2013! He runs a successful YT channel which I watch during every GT.

  8. Good morning, Hubbers!

Going away for the long weekend to Merrivale/Howick area, and keen to try some of the gravel-ish routes there again (gravel bike friendly).

Home base will be Merrivale, so anything North of there if suit me best.

What can the Natal residents recommend?

From the initial plotting I've done on Strava, it's not road condition I should worry about, it's elevation gain.
