  1. Sad to say my experience with Leatt kit has also not been stellar. I have Fox stuff, Troy Lee stuff, First Accent, Watts, Indola and even a Temu one lol, and out of all of that my Leatt stuff looks the worst. Fully agree with the rubber stuff literally pealing off, ive pealed all mine so it at least doesn't look as bad. But also, my baggies and some DH pants all look pretty worn through on the pad/saddle area. It’s almost like the kit is designed to last max 1 year. I now use them mostly on wet days as i don't care for them that much. What made me decide to stop buying them though was a jersey. R1k+ with one ride and wash and it was falling appart at the seams. I know they have a good warranty program, all the shops say so….but agree it’s just a faf. I have 1 good 1.0 trail shirt that seems to be holding up fine though and i use that often. I dont know if they changed sweatshops recently perhaps. But the quality seems inconsistent. I’ll use the stuff i have left until i bin them. Just vote with your wallet imo.
  2. Nice if you’re 1,7m tall or…5y old?😅 170 is my limit. The side effect of having shorter cranks is your saddle height increases…and in my case, mine is already too high haha.
  3. DMR also make nice ones. DMR axe. Silver or black. But another dumb proprietary BB unfortunately. If you really struggle THAT much with pedal strikes…im not sure 5mm will make a huge difference from 170. A bigger tyre in front, slightly less sag, more support/LSC are all things that can mitigate that 5mm real easy imo. Hell, Even thinner pedals. You get flat pedald that are 13-14mm thick, vs others that are 17-19mm. Theres 5mm+(/2) right there. 10mm (165 vs 175) becomes more difficult. Is you new bike running the recommended front travel? Under forking by 10mm can easily drop BB by a few mm depending on the bike/geometry. It might just have a lower BB anyway…an unfortunate side effect of all this long low slack BS.
  4. I have a set of xx1 dubs on my bike. And i use them purely because i have them, their dumb 29.9999mm BB…and they go round. They are paired with my ‘peasant level’ shimano XT link glide groupset (which i love btw). Every now and then i have to take the cranks off as one does….and on that day I tend to swear more than on other days…. BUT…ive not run them torqued down to 50N or whatever it is for quite some time now. I just give it 5 white knuckles and call it a day. Never had an issue and it comes off easier. then theres also the putting it on the floor and using the EARTH to brace against….Yes you do have to put the chainring on the floor. Put a towl or something under it. Works too. These days i have a little step ladder that I wedge under the big-ass flat pedal to similar effect, its just high enough…means i don't have to take the wheels off or put the ring on the floor. Still hate them.
  5. Unicorn cranks those last ones…best of both worlds - Sram direct mount chainrings so all the options in the world with shimano 24mm and preload/pinch bolt mounting method. Superior BB’s and none of that Sram 50986 KN crank bold BS that can F@kkof and die😅
  6. Hy Jy! Crawl back under that rock! you are only allowed to comment if you ride bicycles more than twice a year😅
  7. They are just quiet(er) because the they are new and the pawls are still packed with grease😅… trail bees are cool🤘
  8. As mentioned, you want to lube the interface between the rim and tyre so it slips on way way easier, but it also ensures that the tyre seats properly all the way around the bead. Just a soapy sunlight liquid cloth/sponge. No need to go overboard, just soapy enough that you can feel it on your hands when wiping. As mentioned by @117, wipe the rim, wipe the bead all the way around and go about your business as usual. Once i get it on the rim (before inflating/seating) i usually wipe the rim/bead another time depending on how hard I fought the tyre while installing. added bonus: the soap shows where you might be leaking still. It makes bubbles.
  9. Ghetto tubeless! If all else fails. Google it. Basically using cut 20” inner tubes as rim strips. Solves the Schrader valve issue too.
  10. Shimano makes 138 link chains too. Handy for high pivot bikes that usually need 1 chain plus then some😅
  11. Just pitch up and ride wherever?. you’ll eventually bump into people you either get on with, or don't…and it will go from there. Dont be shy. I didnt know any of the people i ride with…we met on the trails mostly, talking k@k or grabbing a beer afterwards. Most people wouldn't mind if you tag along imo, regardless of your skill level. If you are enthusiastic and a lekker person, then it should all be good. Just dont expect too much coaching lol. In fact, id say you actually want to join a group that you can look up to in terms of skill level, you will progress exponentially faster just by observing. Also go to other trailheads where you will likely find people more in range of your current skill level. Think northern suburbs etc. Tokai is a lekker place, but other than the jeep tracks, probably not too beginner friendly/accessible. MTBers are nomads, although there is always a local trail where they flock together, they do travel between spots depending on the mood. Most trail’ey riders arent too serious. You might not get much interaction from racing snakes chasing KOMs on strava though. ps, another good way to mingle is just to enter an event or trail day or something in line with your biking interests. @Warren Melissa Go Riding for instance organise group rides all over the place.
  12. If they don't go up first try it’s a rim tape issue. Ive had those too…when the centre channel is deep and the tyre sits in there. More tape usually solves this….or even using a tube to pop one side on first.
  13. Great. Down with CSA! Not all heros wear capes… #CSAMustFall 😊😅
  14. Never had an issue seating tyres with a floor pump. Soapy water/cloth, remove valve core, pump to 40psi, wait for the 3 or 4 pops as you go, remove, add sealant, add valve core, pump. Done. Without fail.
  15. likely. Im pretty good at geometry and trig though. Next time, instead of heckling you roadside i might just throw something at you to prove it😅😉
  16. Good amount of **** doctors around for this to be not so unimaginable lol. The idea that all doctors are the fonts of knowledge is also an outdated concept. Being book-smart is as easy as it gets, it requires you to remember information. Its like people with the argument that algebra is pointless and will never be used in life. Its not about the algebra…its about learning tools, strategies, methods for problem solving and deductive reasoning.
  17. It’s Too Long, Don’t Read it. Some things about gatekeeping, basic comprehension, validation bias, things about meritocracy, general ignorance, oversights, complacency, assumption, and a healthy dose of general bikehub stupidity….you know, the usual. TLDR for that: System of a Down - DDevil: “Stupid people do stupid things, smart people outsmart each other - then themselves!” Human folly, societal chaos, and malevolence. 😅
  18. It has been for almost 2 weeks? Until your post that is? 🤣
  19. He’s asking if it’s one of these😉: https://www.intend-bc.com/?v=68caa8201064 …Which it most certainly is not.
  20. And GM is on video with Rob Warner on the lip of the road gap at the bottom, saying redbull hardline is above his paygrade 🤷🏻‍♂️ These guys all have differing skillsets
  21. Im pretty sure they all laugh at each other, like when GM wrapped his bike around a tree, or embarrassed himself with that silly OTB on his first race with Norco. Boys will be boys. Its all part of the fun. If your friends arent laughing at you when you crash or suck, they arent your real friends!
  22. Thats the one! Theres another one too. Anyway, yes…meant tongue in cheek obviously! But you know, some people wont see it (as has already been the case i see haha)
  23. Maybe Theo caught a nerve with someone on CSA board a few years back when he was a younger hooligan. They would basically ridicule the lycra tigers trying to navigate the most basic features on XCO and Epic stages haha. He would watch them crawl down, then proceed to huck whole sections without even touching the ground😅 the fastest way over an obstacle = there is no obstacle
  24. Back on topic: this looks like a cool concept. If you’ve ever done an Enduro MTB event you’ll know how lekker it is to just casually praat stront between stages with the guys around you. People are a lot more lax when they arent being timed and thats part of what makes it fun.
