  1. Not gonna lie, im delighted that I have another chance to ride it if it gets pushed by n month or so and i’m all healed up and ready to go hurt myself again😅.
  2. So was this that coffee curse you and tim were on about?🤣 you buy coffee and you crash?
  3. Well if it is raining the amount they promise, i should come do it with my af arm since we’ll be walking most of it anyway😅 days like these is when you need a single speed rigid trail bike thats is mud proof
  4. Yes i would….😅
  5. KISS yes, and yes, bike is ok - most important part haha. Body parts heal, bike parts are expensive🤣
  6. I dont think too many were cancelled. The xc and marathon fields seemed fine. The enduro field even had a 120 strong entry considering most bro’s called it xc-duro. The weather was the main contributor and made the expo and stalls a bit of a mess. Also, races were cancelled/ pushed on account of heavy rain and lightning, considering that most of the trails are on top of that koppie, probably a good call. The Enduro almost got pushed to. It got a bit flashy and rumbly right before it started.
  7. I wish it was while trying the drop! Haha, armageddon 5 right after the wall ride, such a silly every weekend crash…front wheel just gets hung up momentarily on a rock…fall into the trailside foliage, break my helmet against a rock…and re-posteriorly dislocate by shoulder. its going to be so floppy now, next time the wind blows too hard its going to come out ps: ive decided that i have Adamantium clavicles…unbreakable, rather just push the shoulder out the back🤣
  8. In the off chance my Nurse hiker hero from jonkershoek reads this, thank you for your help today Hermien. Also thanks to all the people who helped down at the trailhead, also @Warren Melissa Go Riding, thanks for a fun day out. Good vibes, fun people all round. (Sent you a PM) i’m unfortunately out, and no mtb for 6 weeks😫. let me know if someone is keen for an entry to the full. Ill sort you out. EDIT: entry found a new home. Enjoy Wayne.
  9. Bought me some premium real estate, then some morphine, xrays, an arm sling and in the next weeks a new helmet and some shoulder rehab haha🤦🏻‍♂️ fml
  10. I did my first one on a rigid mtb…that year when half the field went home in space blankets. sure, the avarage mtb will pass you down the long descents….they did me to on my rigid, but on the rest you will murder them. i have one, i ride it a lot. It has 50c tyres on it that i can run under 2bar. I’d do that race on a gravel bike for sure. I also have an enduro bike…and i would not drag that hunk of lead across that road…even if it means i could fly down the hills. It would suck on the rest. Too heavy, too squishy. That 5-7kg delta in weight, less rolling resistance, gearing makes a huge difference over 100km on the brown stuff. I didn't know they are allowing gravel bikes again this year…thats why I havent done one again. Might just get me an entry if thats the case. There is nothing on that road that gravel bike and a bit of common sense wont achieve. Ask @Wayne pudding Mol, he probably rides it more than anyone on here. You’ll lose a minute or two on the long descents but you can laugh at them on the bits that matter later.
  11. Also..next time write down the key numbers. They recently want proof of ownership too and wont just sell you keys willy-nilly for obvious reasons. So take the thing with or show them a picture of it.
  12. Its only really that part by the big drop off and the off camber part right after it…especially if you are doing it for the first time. You don't see the b-line around the side down the chute lol. But yea…need to go try that bit a few more times myself.
  13. Even iron monkey was very powdery 2 weekends ago….like the few soil bits in between all the rocks I mean😅
  14. I think i might join you on sunday. The last scout ride was fun. Melissa can hand out some pro tips about riding flats these days, ill need them🤣
  15. They were open the last time do do in whatever order? Maybe they do that again. The plan will for sure be to get the two rocky ones out the way and then just hold on for dear life with floppy legs on the fast ones.
  16. I also went there with that idea last weekend and only managed armageddon and monky top to bottom. It was crazy humid too. This weekend looks like pushing 30* again
  17. Yea that off camber left turn right after the big drop will have me taking a go on it with flats again this weekend. Got unclipped there last time and just couldnt get back in…which sucked. And I swear it just happens at jonkers haha. Combo of the soil, hike a bike and rocks
  18. Bump 1.5 weeks to go!
  19. Also got my email today, but think I might give 2024 a skip. I said it will be 30*+ and windy after all….
  20. “Amish mtb components FTW” - disgruntled SRAM AXS owner. i run a bar end shifter on my gravel bike. I like manual cars. I enjoy the involved act of cycling. I maintain that in an overcomplicated world I crave simplicity in the things I value most. I see the value in this new hangerless bs…but please don't take away load-shedding addition rear derailleurs😅 Aint nobody got time (or electricity) to worry about charging a fn bicycle.
  21. Yes you will drop that grub screw and lose it, and no you don’t have a spare in your screws box…because who does………
  22. The shifter shows that sometimes simpler is better. And yea….only UDH frames
