  1. poor field placements, misdirected bowling. While Olivier literally bounced his way into the big time against Pakistan, he is looking like a one-trick pony that just kept loading Perrera's canon for him. I think ZA sorely missed a line and length bowler that can contain a batsman, aka swervin vernon. He is like our Glen McGrath a bowler that could ask many questions of a batman by bowling a line with small variations that frustrates any top order batsman, and left tail-enders wonder wtf is going on. With a bowler like that, you can start getting highly creative with stacked fielding positions. Remember the Aussie slip cordon? yasis. I think we could have done something like that with Perrera, who seemed content to cut to square every time the ball was just slightly wide and short. he was clearly going for that win, so feed the beast and be patient. rant above cos i was very disappointed we couldn't bowl out a rank tail-ender with 60 runs left. pathetic. fokkol BMT.
  2. dang, it's pretty catchy off the bat! look forward to bingeing the rest!
  3. I defended the good people of the company. Get it right. For once.
  4. sounds like a pro_zuma camp bit of disinformatika. All those connections are probably true, but that it dwarfs what the Zuptas did is just preposterous deflection. Yes, we must be vigilant of these apparent concerns, but this implication that what the zuptas did is ignorable and inconsequential is just fuggin aggravating in ways only a thrown brick can express.
  5. Assuming you are correct, who benefits? According to their CFO, not Eskom, because even if the requested tariffs were granted, it not even close to being enough. The blackouts are not doing are economy any good and is likely straining backroom deals Ramaphosa struck in Switzerland (hence him being reportedly angry about the recent turn of events). There's always the pro-zuma/pro-koko acolytes. The zumas and kokos of this country never gave a toss about the country or it's ppl, except where it suited them, and the spilling of bosasa guts could actually hurt them for a change. Then there was a missive from the Eskom CEO, in which he declares sabotage as a non-starter, Bbut goes into a bit of prose about how it would be unthinkable, and beyond the conscience of Eskom's professionals. It's curious because why state it's not something, but then go and appeal to professional, patriotic conscience to prevent the something. Very odd, very curious IMO. So other than political power play, self-destructive behavior, or status quo a consequence of what's gone before, who or what is left?
  6. I see you still display lack of self control, by not restraining yourself from rather ironic name-calling. Same old you hey. But to your question, many have left. At the time, there were very many very good engineers and managers who, despite being sidelined from growth opportunities, kept the organization functional. Those are the ones who took pride in their work and did what they knew best and it kept the ship floating as best they could. If it wasn't for them, we as a country would have been in the current dark hole much, much sooner. But there's been a massive brain drain (not just from the middle but from the bottom as well. that is, really great young talents have left for better growth opportunities because of ridiculous race politics, and those young men and women were a very bright future for Eskom), and the few good ones that remain, their best efforts are no longer sufficient. So here we are, cheap-points-scoring ad hominem attacks and all.
  7. the past 10 to 20 years WAS the new approach. It was new in that it almost entirely eschewed basic business practices for the sake of political expediency and personal profits. Case in point: since early 1990s IIRC, Eskom knew we'd run out of generating capacity relative to national growth forecast, by around 2010. We got there a bit earlier in 2008. What was done prior to that? sweetfokkol. Ever since, Eskom's installed capacity has been forced to play rope-a-dope with actual demand, eventually sinking to the level of DSM (demand side management), which in my view, was the moment it became clear Eskom entered the utility death spiral: higher tariffs, but reduced consumption base. fantastic business model! The 'old' way of premising new generation capacity on national growth outlook is still a sound basis, as it is in turn the basis for determining future earnings for the purposes of obtaining credit. What should be new, is what form that generating capacity will be, and I'm all for renewables supported by nuclear and residual coal.
  8. good reply there Juan. But it has to be emphasized that even great ppl at Eskom won't pull the the company out of the current dilemma the industry refers to as the "utility death spiral. Unbundling is a great way to highlight who of the three groups is the most cost effective, but of itself, it does not solve the fundamental problem: south Africa's industrial base is too small. We need to use more energy, and more of the right energy. So far, the government has done a great job of highlighting the issues within Eskom, and rightly so. That web of corruption and more importantly, INCOMPETENCE, that is stinking up the Eskom ranks, needs to be found and exorcised. But even when that is done, the problem of insufficient energy consumption by a large industrial base/work force, is still the elephant in the room. Seems ironic to complain about insufficient energy use at a time of level 4 loadshedding. But we have to look past the immediate situation for a long term solution. and what exactly did SONA2019 have to say about that, hmm?
  9. TL:DR version: put aside personal demands for the greater good. Works every time, and you won't be impoverished. Yet they say world hunger cannot be solved. ya nee sure.
  10. i like the sole comment that article attracted.
  11. based on the 2011 movie. First ep was pretty good. Long time to wait for E02.
  12. yesterday I noticed these in the recent SS 2019 Fox MTB clothing release vid. Fox playing coy with me by saying it's 'maybe something new'. Not even Vital or PB noticed it until i pointed it out. #first #onlycountsifyouactuallypostedacomment
  13. exactly how I ended up with two PMs.
  14. thanks for attempting to solve my problem added to what travisza pointed out, it wasn't a deliberate choice to have two: my trainer wheel has a hub based power meter. Pure coincidence that i have two,but it is of interest to check the response times and power numbers of one against the other.
  15. don't forget to remind him to bring along a taser or telescopic baton, or chainmail etc...
  16. love the variations of this song, pretty much a testament to the timeless nature of the Kate Bush original. I find this song very emotive for some reason. Like the Placebo version, this latest cover is pretty good too. https://youtu.be/6wN8Eu9UjIo
  17. another potentially interesting one. looks gritty. Reminds of Titans, but an opposing version
  18. Same here: on a Dell 24". but it's starting to feel really small, not because of gaming as such, but as a work tool: i tend to work with a lot of documents simultaneously. Sure, docs can be snapped to share the screen space, but then the font gets really small, and zooming in narrows the FOV (i read really fast!) So a bigger screen seems to be the way to go. Did the dual screen setup a few years ago. was nice enough, except for that middle deadspace. Back then, bezels were practically landing strips for jumbo jets

  20. any recommendations on a sweet gaming monitor. Nothing overthetop in terms of price (it's never worth it given the very quick new screen development times), 27" or greater, curved, freesync compatible, preferably FS2. Currently top of the list is the LG 34UC79G (FS rev 1.)
  21. interesting..
  22. van Dussen is a f'ing terminator. Strolls to wicket: plunders runs. goes back for harddrive defrag and then into sleep state. Haven't seen such poise and confidence from a newb in yonks!
