Anyone doing the double (Silverstar Saturday and D2D Sunday)?

This is an optional choice. For W2W each rider gets his/her own tent. (standard size with a matress)

They had 2 of these last year that was given out by lucky draw. Although it looked very comfortable, it was right at the start line so no chance of a little sleep in if you are in one of the later batches.

During the first stage of a4 day ride to Durban, it was cold and misty so I put on a long sleeve compression top under my cycling jersey. 40 minutes later the sun burned off the fog and it started to get hot. The group wasn't planning on stopping so I tried taking the long sleeve top off while still riding. I passed my jersey to the support vehicle and tried taking the compression top off. No luck so I decided to suck it up till the first stop about 50km further. After trying to put the jersey back on, I gave up after 3 attempts as the jersey was twisted and I couldn't get my arms through the sleeves. I ended up cycling the remainder of the first stage just in bibs and the long sleeve compression top, not exactly perfect riding attire. The support guys could'nt stop laughing. I also "paid" at the fines evening that night.

Definately doing it again this year

I rode in the second BL group, we passed quite a few riders in the Cradle with FL and GL numbers. Obviously riders that split onto the 50km ride after the first climb. Wonder if they pointed out the shorter distance at the finish.

I'm in BL and will be cycling to the start (and back unless I'm too broken), down CdW past the Retail Crossing, if you want company. Slow and steady.....

Agreed, spin it out (you won't be the last person up the hill). You'll be warm by the time you hit the top. I'm close to the start so contemplating cycling to the mall as warm up.

The map showed that we get back onto the highway at Beyers? Last year it was the same but we were waived past th eoff ramp to the Muldersdrift road, past Carnivores? Anyone have any clarity on this year?

Last year the wind was pumping too. Guess that will make it 3 weeks in a row where the wind will play a roll. Hope youre in a group up the long drag to and past Maropeng, once you hit the caves section it's vasbyt time!

I'm in

I almost got taken out by one of the flying bikes in AL, had to do some off roading and managed to avoid the crash. still had to stop. Guy on the ground was clutching his shoulder. Long chase back with a few guys and one very strong girl riding a Bianchi, If you're a hubber, well done! We also had a wring turn thanks to some dodgy marshalling at a crossing. Route went straight, he had his flag out as if we were to turn left. Half the group turned before he shouted to turn back.

Rough start at Sportmans this morning. Only numbers that arived at 9 was the licenced racers. Rest showed up around 9:15, from there on it was smooth.

AL. After yesterday I'm going to suffer in that bunch
