It’s fairly easy to do a DIY version. Get a bit of flat steel section and drill 2 holes, one at either end. One hole sized for the seat post bolt and the other one sized for a brake barrel adjuster bolt ( the type used on cheaper caliper brakes. A bit of fiddling with washers and shaping the section ends and you are done. Might not look the best but it will work.

Here’s one I built using old school stem shifters and mafac centre pull brakes. It worked OK but nothing like a modern gravel bike.

I think cyclists and motorists often have I different view on hooting. A few days ago I had an incident where I was cycling on a quiet street with no oncoming traffic and a guy hoots at me then passes. A little bit further on he’s stopped at the lights and I pull up next to him. I ask him in a very non aggressive way if there was some reason he hooted at me? He says he just wanted to make sure I knew he was there. I explained that when riding someone hooting causes friction as cyclists see it as threatening and aggressive so he should just give us some space and carry on. He seemed to take that onboard and thanked me for the info! Maybe one less motorist hooting and causing agro I hope.

If you sell on Gumtree or the Hub and someone messages you and asked you to contact them via Gmail just block the number and move on. Since I started doing this I haven’t had anymore scam messages. Maybe the use the same number with various names so a block or two and no more hassles.

I’ve had so many of these with bike and other ads that I don’t even get upset anymore. I just ignore anyone who messages me and asks to be contacted on G-mail. Really if you message from your phone why can’t you communicate by phone? Just ignore and block the number end of story.

Reports of an attack and stabbing above Deer Park on my NW group. Apparently the cyclist was stabbed with a broken bottle and Grey Santa Cruz and cel phone stolen. Guy with dreads running pushing the bike down towards Deer Park Cafe.

Just to add a bit to the buzz, I went for a wardrobe test today and all worked well ; See you all on Saturday! Edit: can’t add the pic from my phone.

Merry Christmas everybody. I realize that no one is reading The Hub over the holidays but I’ll leave this here for when you all get back ???? I acquired a nice Peter Allan 531 the other day, it has an Exage group on it which I would like to change. The hubs are 105 Golden Arrow so this gave me a clue that the group might have been “upgraded” at some time. I’m thinking about going Golden Arrow on the whole build, I know it’s a modest group but it would be something different. Is there anybody here who had a group set of bits they are willing to sell?

Reading this thread about ultra endurance events no one has mentioned Race to the rock an over 3000km unsupported race in Australia. If it’s always open there will be weeds and debris in front of the open gate, if it’s supposed to be closed there will be drag marks across the road from opening and closing. Pretty simple to work out really.

Nice bike! Where did you get that bar tape BTW? I'm doing up a Biannchi that came out with that exact tape so looking for it locally before I do the e-bay thing.

Hey IH8MUD here you are It's not in showroom condition and I still need to get the Campy RD, levers and brakes but it's a long term project that i'll do as I find the bits. It rides very nicely though.

Hi Guys, I am trying to build a wheel set for a mid 80's Lejeune 753 I rescued a while back. I have the original back wheel and managed through a fellow Hubber to get a NOS matching red anodized DRC rim All I need now is a Suntour Superbe 28 hole front hub the same model as the pictures below. Not easy to find I am sure but I thought I'd put it out there and hope one of the retro guys might have one to sell. Thanks, Barry
