  1. Whatever you do don't refer to the CO2 cartridges as "bombs".
  2. The nice thing about new born babies is that they are really small. So you can take them with you on the ride by removing the bladder from your hydration pack and just slotting them in there. This negates the need for a baby seat, which also saves you money. By wearing the hydration pack the wrong way around you may alse be able to breastfeed whilst out riding. This way everyone wins!
  3. This is so tragic! According to Beeld she was still alive right after the accident and Barry rushed her to hospital in Winburg. Declared dead when she arrived. This must've been a horrific experience for Barry. Condolences to friends and family.
  4. I remember when I started the first 7km was absolute hell, but after that I got into a rhythm and felt much better. It was just getting through the first 7kms. It's important to get those muscles warmed up before you hit the trails as wel1. When we ride Groenies we always start by riding to the booms and al the way down to the fountains gate and back just to get the legs moving. I have also found that spinning is a great way to drop some weight and also get some kms in the legs when your time is limited.
  5. Tragic news! RIP Andrew and condolences to the family.
  6. Man! Missed it!! and I'll be missing the Feb race At least there is something in March to look forward to!
  7. You got me! I'd Google it but I sense you want to tell us...
  8. Lance, Contador, Jens, Spartacus! No mention of Mr Ulrich yet?
  9. Ons of my mates cramped badly during the Argus MTB last year. The medic gave him Eno mixed with coke which sorted him out almost instantly!

You're screwed now buddy! Power balance has been exposed as a scam! Will you still be able to stay on the bike without it?
  11. I hope you filled up yesterday! Petrol price went up today...
  12. Had to be the Argus MTB last year! Man, that was a scorcher! Not being able to do any of the seeding races as they were all down in the Cape we started in the last batch. I recall someone saying that it was 47 degrees when the race doctor called it off. I remember pushing both my bike and my wife's bike up the climbs while she was lying in the shade in the vineyard! I remember the vineyards being lined with riders as that was the only shade available at that stage. Man, that was something else... no breeze, no nothing! We were halfway when we were told to turn around, the race has been called off... Anyway, we decided to go back for some more punishment this year! Can't wait!!
  13. The worst thing about all the rain is that where it used to be hard packed jeep track all the hard packed sand has washed away exposing a very rocky trail. I'm sure those with the dual sussers didn't even notice, but I noticed all too well. Joys of a hardtail! Still great fun though! Messenger especially enjoyed it on his brand new Gobi!
  14. mvrk, welccome! Like was said earlier, it's really worth your while to have your bike set up properly. Trying to get it right through trial and error can be a long and painful process.
  15. TW, it seems as if you have done the digging already, so let's not duplicate effort C'mon, spill the beans.
  16. ...or just stick to bibs... I would.

  18. My thoughts exactly! Would be helluva frustrating knowing that Burry and Kev is fighting it out with Lance and not be able to see what is going on! They'll have to up the coverage if Lance is here! This all still seems very speculative? It's not a done deal that he's riding the epic is it?
  19. Scotty, the name calling has now gone too far! That is just too much! Well done, next week I'll try and get something more challenging...
  20. I think a quote from one of the wisest of our time is in order at this point: “If we are going on like this, why don’t we go to the nearest ballet shop, get some tutus and get a dancing shop going? 20 points if you can identify the character with the profound wisdom behind this quote....
  21. Would've been awesome to start Christmas day with a bike ride but we're having the whole family over for lunch, so that won't work. Got a ride planned for sunday afternoon and Groenies on Monday morning at least! Can't wait!!
