  1. I have seen so many bikes with the wrong year model and even some with no year model. The age does make a difference in the value, some people might think or have been told wrong but alot know it's worth more if it's newer and just ly 🤥
  2. Looks good. What would the price be +- and I take it it could be done the same way with Arch or Flow rim's for the more rounded riders?
  3. Yes the American classic race 29ers with light spokes where around 1300g built for/by a LBS owner years ago. I used to love AC wheels but they where soft so no low pressure, as with anything you can't have it all.
  4. To the pub 🤣 was ou with my wife and youngest sister the morning getting things for her wedding. I needed a drink after that and didn't want to waste the good weather 😂
  5. Maxxis are most people's go to with a wide range of tyres. I have a set of 2.35 rekon race on one bike and a 2.35 rekon race rear and 2.35 ikon up front on the other. The Ikons roll as good as the rekon race, they weigh the same but grip is better and more predictable on the trails. Budget friendly option would be running a set of 2.35 Ikons. If you want something light, fast rolling, good grip and can take a beating Bontrager XR3. They look similar to the Rekon Race but they feel so much better and considerably lighter. To give you an idea the 2.35 rekon race weighs more than my 2.4 XR4 which has an why more aggressive tread.
  6. Yip the SLX chains are tihs I'm hoping the XT is better 🤞🏻
  7. I'm running just the reverse of what you are Shimano cassette and chain with sram derailleur and shifter. Yes the Shimano cassette and chain don't last as long as sram but it also costs considerably less, the ratio's are so much better and the shifting is just next level. PS : have just bought a hyperglide + Ebike rated chain so let's see if it lasts longer 🤞🏻 it was still inexpensive compared to sram.
  8. I've owned a couple of the Sparks very comfy and fast down, but I felt with each pedal stroke the bike went more up and down than forward. The older Spark had a similar design to the Spesialized and that felt like a much faster bike. Please note this was before I used any type of device so it's purely just on how it felt to me. And I'm heavy so basically need to max out the rear shock to get the correct sag.
  9. I know that's why said looks like because of how short it looks 😁 should be fun on the trails 👍🏻
  10. Looks like a little awesome dirt jumper 👌🏻😁
  11. Sounds like a good garage to have. 😁 I told my wife all these parts where sent to the wrong address and without a return address or contact number. I had no choice but to put it together so I don't lose any small bits 😄
  12. Hopefully he got some sense knocked into him.
  13. Well she came out better than expected. There's just something about a raw frame especially in the sun light ☀ 👌🏻 Surprises : the DebonAir spring feels so much better than older Rockshox, nice plush feeling without just running through all the travel 👌🏻 The budget friendly Deore shifts as good as the much more expensive XT. 👍🏻 All and all quite happy now for the next project 🤣😂
  14. Lekker morning out some great views above the clouds. Tyre puncture comming down Conties made me and the bike look like we were part of a porn plot 😂
  15. I got the adult version of Lego 🤣 To think this all started because I had to many tyres 🤣 Been hiding parts all over the house till I had everything 🤞🏻
  16. Not sure if there's a Cyclelab in your area but they charge R650 and that with them boxing it.
  17. Awesome thanks will send you a message 🙏🏻
  18. Hi does anyone have a cheap remote lockout lever for a fork. It's for a Rockshox but sure a Suntour or any generic one I will be able to make work. 🙏🏻 I have parts, beers or a couple of dirty buffalo's for exchange. Thanks
  19. My bike has full armour ride cover and I have had the misfortune of "testing" it. Fell and bar turned around dragging shifter/brake over the frame. I had to force it back. Not a mark, can't even see anything on the protective wrap. 👍🏻 They definitely have two thumbs-up from me. 👍🏻👍🏻
  20. Titan would be a good first bike they are usually best bang for your buck 👌🏻
  21. Brands that do entry level bikes I would suggest would be Titan, Silverback and Giant. If you're just looking at something to ride around the camp site I don't think your weight would be an issue. If you are looking at getting a bike to tour with that's different ball game. There's a couple of people on here who do and would be able to give you a good idea idea of what you are going to need.
  22. Ice cold start but at least no wind 🍀
  23. No cause if my boet says "dit lyk lekker" he is being sarcastic 🤣 It's a cheap Lyne or Rapide so I wasn't stressed to throw it away if it didn't work 👍🏻
  24. So I take it your not a fan of the look, see this is what happens when I am unsupervised at home 🤣
  25. There's a easy way to get the anodizing off. Just a couple of minutes at home with something you might even have at home 😁 I really need to start taking "before" photos 🤦🏽🤣
