  1. OK, Shauno! Two entries just deposited in the appropriate bank account - one for myself and one for Oiltrash! I hope that the response to this appeal will be as successful as your previous ones. Keep up the good work, you are a scholar and a gentleman!!!
  2. Good idea! It will always be up to date (unlike the printed programme from CSA!), and once a user base is established, the event organisers can stimulate interest in their events, by regular postings - a la Kremmetart! Good one Jules!
  3. I'm sure there are a lot of interesting stories behind those photos?
  4. I agree... much better to get shot in the profile than in the butt... my facebook profile picture shows my butt Not a pretty picture, I'm sure!!!
  5. Exactly! Like the Hubbers who start off by saying: "I have sometimes also done this or that but..." No buts...raise your profile and you get shot at - simple.
  6. Helmets are compulsory for cyclists and have been since October 2004. As for licenses - not a bad idea. Do the old toppies remember the licenses we had in the 70s for bicycles with the traffic cops stopping lighties on their bikes to check the discs! Ah! For the good old days!!! You took your bike to the licence department and after paying for your licence you went into the yard and some guy with a set of metal punches punched your licence number onto your frame!!!
  7. Welcome back!
  8. Hey Holy.... didnt I tell you last on last weeks ride..... God created alcohol to keep the Irish from ruling the world....... Did you hear the one about the Irish queer? He preferred women to drink!!!
  9. Do any of you, perhaps, feel like I do? That I have been PLAYED by, maybe, the biggest PLAYER of all time?
  10. Hey Chilli and BEE, you guys rock!!! Well done, you guys looked awesome crossing the finish line, I was so proud of you! I did the 70km as my come-back ride! I had such a good ride - really fantastic to be back on the road again. Came 63rd! First (only?) Standard Bank rider home in the 70km race! He he he To the organisers - thank you for a great experience. I am going to make it a goal to ride the stage race next year. Well done to all those Hubbers who took part - it was a privilege to be part of the experience, even though it was in the minor event!
  11. Hectic traffic, hey BigH?!
  12. There are two groups of cyclists in this world - those who would ride a Raleigh (and some do!) and those who would not (no matter how much bang for your buck you got!) Toyota understood this principle very well - which is why they created the Lexus brand! If only the marketing people at Raleigh would create an up-market model and give it a real interesting name, add 20% to the price tag (the exclusivity factor!) and Bob's your uncle! Threads like this would be unnecessary!
  13. What a great show! Saw it this morning while I was on the IDT! Made me want to go out and buy a "proper" MTB! And our MichelleH had a speaking appearance, uttering that immortal cycling phrase "What hills?"!
  14. Yep! Design and repro! Who wants what?
  15. I will be there with alacrity! And don't I know how to choose my come-back race! I'm not even back on the road yet, only doing IDT training. Ah, well I suppose one has to be slightly left off centre to be a cyclist in the first place! PS: If alacrity doesn't want to come I will still be going anyway!
  16. People, please! Get serious. There's this hottie in the office who is a runner and can't always run with a group. I am concerned for her well being and suggested she carry some sort of defence. Are there any Lady Hubbers out there with some sensible advice? Amateur, Slowpoke, Chilli Pepper!!!, BEE, Wonder Woman etc. PLEASE HELP! No, I can't post a pic, you will have to take my word!
  17. Is that the mace variety?
  18. Can anyone shed light on this subject. What are the options. Are there sprays to be avoided. Are there sprays specifically suited to cyclists; to runners? I never pay attention to the marketing/packaging; they are so misleading most of the time.
  19. Aaaggh No! That's terrible news Chilli! What's happening to us! Every day another one bites the dust. Please get better soon. Sorry to hear about your fall. I hope it is not as serious as it sounds.
  20. Same goes for SP. Anyone that has ever ridden with her knows to watch out!!! Whenover I see her on the road I get onto the pavement, or if I see her off-road I jump into the river. Heavens to Betsy, I just hope that I never meet her in a dark alley!!! Shriek!!
  21. Thank goodness your observation is so true. I am a financial proofreader and I make a (good) living out of people's ignorance of language (both English and Afrikaans). You would be surprised at how many well-educated business people haven't the slightest idea about the difference between, for example, the use of continuous and continual. For that matter there are a lot of journalists who are just as ignorant, just ask HR! And when it comes to the difference between how (business) Afrikaans is used in the Cape and Gauteng - you just won't believe it. It's like two different dialects!
  22. Who's got a photograph, for heaven's sake ???
  23. The trike was part of Oiltrash's crowd, Fugro! But silly me, Windbreaker would know, wouldn't he? Isn't he part of that outfit? Surely he took a pic?
