  1. Really hits home when it is someone you know and not just another name...sorry for your loss and prayers to her loved ones. Michael and Melody
  2. Such a sad way to start the day...never met him but the name was so familiar and part of my Hub family. Condolences to his family and his friends, especially those of you who are on the Hub. May his soul rest in peace. Michael Hurter
  3. Last update was in August...any updates since then? Any incidents we should know about, anybody?
  4. PM Kiwi...they have the business. My honey uses the "On One Big Nose Saddle" on both her road bike and her MTB. Tried a variety of saddles before and always had complaints. Since we got Kiwi's saddles not a word. Peace... And best of all R250 a pop. Can't go wrong at that price...
  5. ...Diamond Dogs...!!!
  6. ...will there be a stall selling slices of chocolate cake?
  7. Paid my fees and ready to roll.... http://www.escape-cycle-tours.com>
  8. Gone to look for a dictionary...!!!
  9. Heard a call on 702 this morning...about a black bike stolen off the back of a bakkie!!!
  10. Try cycling past makro on HPotgieter on a Saturday, where the taxis park two abreast in the emergency lane!!! Then you will understand how much makro adds to an area's degradation!!!
  11. Welcome to the Hub RaceU!!! Sorry that we had to meet under these unfortunate circumstances. Please stick around and chat a bit when you have gotten over the worst of your trauma, you'll find we are a decent lot, in the main.
  12. Blind Faith - the Deluxe Edition: Do what you like (All 15 mins 23 secs)!!!

  15. Shoo... grew up watching him! Really shocked to hear the news. RIP
  16. No, it's not wise to have a massage before a race! A deep muscle sports massage fatigues the muscle. Don't try it after about four days before your ride!!!
  17. From a technical aspect it fits in where? - on a scale of 1 (easy) to 10 (very technical)
  18. Had a similar problem...then I changed bikes, and the creak persisted. OK, then it had to be the shoe!!! Removed the cleats, cleaned the crud off everything and...Bob's your uncle...creak gone!!!
  19. I'm not sure. The author says that the rider hit a car after rounding a bend. I saw an accident involving a taxi on a very straight stretch of road. The sad thing for the biking fraternity is that' date=' if this is the same rider, they lost 3 bikers yesterday! Two more died after hitting a petrol tanker in the south of Jhb as well. That thread referenced above is subtitled "The Fallen" - it's a chilling reminder how dangerous our roads can be. [/quote'] Agreed...don't think that was the accident at Toadbury Hall! That link refers to a head-on with an X-Trail! The accident at Toadbury Hall involved a Taxi and there were two bikes down! Whoever it was...RIP and sympathy to friends and family! It was a very sombre reminder of the danger of riding on two wheels.
  20. Sorry...I was so upset with the announcement, that I forgot where I was posting! Forgive me....
  21. It is with great sadness that I write to let you know that from December 2009, the Standard Bank Cycling Club will cease to exist. We have decided to focus our efforts and channel the funds used to support the club towards our charitable and social investment responsibilities. Thus, events such as Cycle 4 Kids will take up all our 'cycling' focus and will utilise all the funding that has been made available to us. We thank you for cycling in our colours and wish you safe cycling. Kind regards, Crofton McLaughlin Standard Bank Cycling Club Chairman So...where to now?
