Jeez Dude, you certainly know how to grab the headlines. I remember well the saga unfolding when I read your first post shortly after your bike was hijacked, and how bad I felt for you then. Then when I read about you getting your Colnago I was so happy for you. As I said then, if I deserved it, I would have chosen a bike exactly like yours. And now this!! My boy, I feel your pain. As Sammajoor said, we is a family! One of us gets hurt - we all get hurt. Take it easy, don't stress too much. Count your blessings and consign the negatives to the trash can!

Hey SP, my friend. I'm so sad for you and the Buccaneer's family and other friends. We never know when our hour will come so we must use the hours we have to best effect! Please accept my hear-felt sympathies.

Give it a few weeks and you will like it.it took me almost a month and now i love it.

Friend gave me a VDO cycle computer with HR, but the magnet pick-up/sensor did not work. No prob, only wanted it for the heart rate monitor anyway (which worked just fine)! Now that the quiet time at work has set in I thought I would have a look at the VDO site to see if there were any South African agents (the computer was originally bought from Slipstream Cycles). Checked the list of current models to see if my model was still in production. Yep! it sure was. Second from the bottom of the range (HC 12.6). Nope, no SA agents, but there was a "contact us" link. (Please fill in the form with all your contact details, address etc - required!) Emailed them at 10:00, explained the problem. At 11:00 (an hour later) they emailed me back: sounded like a factory fault, and they had therefore despatched a replacement part (part no 5510 - the docking holder and 1.5m wire and sensor attached) at no cost!!! WTF!!! Can you imagine that happening here? Hats off to VDO! Way to go guys!

My LBS says they will have the full range of 2008 Gary Fisher bikes for me to try out (plus minus 8 different models) at the Cycle Fair, including a 29er (?) and a carbon Hi Fi (?). Its all Greek to me. What should I look at first?

Help! As my friends will attest, I am the easiest person to sell anything to! I just cannot resist a sales pitch. Now I will be riding a 2008 Gary Fisher dual-suspension mtb at the cycle fair in Modderfontein on Sunday. Now my problem is this, chances are good that if I ride it I will be halfway sold! My present mtb is a hardtail Avalanche Reflex which is, as I understand it, as entry level as you can get. So as you can see I am very new to this mtb thing. Is the Gary Fisher any good? Could I get better bang for my buck on a different brand. I don't know the price yet, but my lbs reckon that once I have ridden the bike I will love the price! I am riding the 24 hour at Northern Farms at the beginning of December and that is where I want to christen my new baby!
