  1. For sure!!! A good time for the 94.7!
  2. Help!!! Please boys and girls. Can anyone recommend somewhere for a good sports massage in the North of Johannesburg?
  3. Think you will have more luck if you search Google "Images". Even stranger!!!
  4. How very strange....
  5. My point exactly! Well put!
  6. I'm with Slowpoke on the red light issue (here it comes - the but part) BUT ... there are times, like when our group is stopped at a red light towards the end of our ride, when the roads start getting busy (read Jan Smuts/Willam Nicoll) and we are being crowded by vehicles, I push off long before the light changes and to hell with the glares I get. I will not compromise my safety by being involved in the dash to cross the road when the light first changes. So, the point is, sometimes for the sake of safety you HAVE to go through a red light!
  7. Fellow cyclist - R.I.P. It could have been you or me - we lay it on the line everytime we go out to train! Just a thought about cycling lanes. I frequently see and hear this topic brought up as if it is the answer to most of our problems. We have a dedicated cycling lane in Randburg, going up Rabie Str, with curbing and everything. I have never seen a cyclist using it!!! Reason, cars don't drive there so it is littered with rubbish - stones, glass etc. I's just too dangerous to use!
  8. My nomination for the Hubber who: Knows his Music - Mud Dee
  9. Best avatar(s) - FanieFiets!!!
  10. Amen.
  11. Same problem! Took my bike in for a pre-AmaShova check. (Scott Speedster 10 with ultegra components) Bike has been running smoothly so I was very surprised to be told that my chain was "fish curry"!!!! The chain is less than 3000km and I clean and lube it before every ride. Worse still is that my cassette, which I put on new for the Jock has suffered some damage as well. I was given a crash course and demonstration on a bike's drive train and I must say my attitude received a sharp adjustment. Appears that a chain can last only 400km but some can last 4 000km. Depends on how well your drive train is set-up! MichaelH2007-10-03 02:06:48

  14. Remember when Booby Skinstad was injured but he was still selected to go to the last Rugby World Cup and he had a lovely holiday. Remember the stink? And what happened? It's World Cup time again and where is our boy? You got it - he's at the world cup! Rugby, cycling, jukskei, some things never change. I know it sticks in the throat until you want to choke but that's the way it is!
  15. Amateur I hope you have entered - and this time without the liquid refreshments in the carrier! I want to see a sub four!!!
  16. BTW - how come the 70km medal was gold and the 103km silver??? WTF! Or have I, as usual, got it all wrong?
  17. Hey Lulu, I see you are on board. Did you race yesterday? ... and Wolverine? I rode with Amateur - who was doing her first century since the Liberty Ride for Sight and was her come-back ride after her op. As anyone who knows her will be able to confirm, we chatted the whole way and I, for one, didn't even notice the kms going by So, as a consequence treated this one as a training ride, not a race like the Carousel. Trying to get as much saddle time as possible in preparation for The Big Ride down to PMB to take part inh the AmaShova!
  18. Me too, me too, me too! I'm good for R200! Where to I pay?
  19. Hey SV, I suppose you get your fair share of hate mail? Like this one!!!
  20. Thank you Big Bad John, I found your tribute very moving.

Ryan Cox (M.H.D.S.R.I.P.) Though our lives are but fleeting grains in the sands of time your passing has united cyclists everywhere, even if only for a fleeting moment. Condolences to those who loved him. He will be remembered and missed profoundly.
