  1. Was there nothing with more of a negative rise - I’m worried you’ll be too upright
  2. Main reason for me is to look cool But multiple hand positions make it’s super comfortable and the flares mean your wrists are straight so no numb fingers Did I mention it looks cool and for me that’s important because I can’t grow a proper beard
  3. that's it - must be in a westerly, the stronger the better going the opposite way in an east isn't as much fun but you can meet your family for brekkie and get a lift home
  4. so WP 6 is Mostertshoek where there are a few houses followed by a sharp climb up where you will then use the residents road to Rebelsrus - I haven't done it in years but it usually has some very sandy sections You are going to run out of road but Eskom were maintaining their section (Thyspunt) up until 2 years ago and chasing anyone who tranversed out. Once you have accomplished the first half my money is on you using the road out of Oyster bay and along the dirt road back to St Francis When are you doing it? I once counted 11 puff adders just on the first 8km stretch of the wildside. One was on the waters edge eating a dead fish - that was my last ride there. Walks with a stick I still do. Some sections where you have to bundu bash a bit just freaked me out too much but I am a real baby when it comes to snakes and puff adders actually give me nightmares
  5. I lived in Seals for 10 years and both our parents still do - it’s a do able ride but thoroughly unpleasant unlike clambering over rocks and carrying your bike is what you consider fun - then there is the issue of the land between rebels and oyster bay being owned by Eskom (the nuclear power site) at Thyspunt You can do it and I have but I’d do it in flats with trail running shoes - I didn’t If you fancy a long gravel ride take the Oyster bay turn off and ride to eersterevier - do not attempt this in a west What I would do if the SW was pumping and no swell is to get dropped off at the farmstall by the eersterivier turnoff and ride back to cape st Francis - 3 off us once did this averaging 28 on mountain bikes - absolute blast and almost entirely downwind
  6. I got so lost for an hour today - in 3 hours only managed 26km climbing 1000m, and mostly on foot Had to scale a fence at the firefighters emergency landing strip in the Outeniqua mountains Quite unintentionally found out where my gravel bikes limits are
  7. I know the ones from tsitsikamma and around st Francis are mostly Italian owned
  8. rainy day, normally you can see the mountains behind those trees
  9. what roof mount are you using? Nice
  10. Geez Francois you are one tough muthutrucka Really had a k@k day but your fight gives me perspective Best wishes, you just deserve a break now
  11. and definitely a ride you can do with a friend or 2
  12. My workshop is tidy, now can I please ride my bike ?
  13. I’d like to thank all the guys on this thread for ensuring I didn’t even look at my bike this weekend - I spent all weekend sorting my workshop because I was ashamed after seeing some people’s
  14. I would think so because dewalt don’t make rubbish
  15. Beautiful - looks crisp
  16. I have a makita impact driver and try to stick to torx screws when using this - otherwise I use my only non makita tool, a 12v dewalt for other screws A good impact driver is worth saving up for - also an important tip is to find a brand you like and stick to it so you can use the same chargers and batteries. Many a friend has saved money on a great deal only to have a million chargers and no charged compatible battery when you need it For me its makita as back up locally is good and they are robust
  17. Not nearly as sad as he’d be at home
  18. Great for small jobs but try decking with it, super slow But a great and useful accessory for many jobs
  19. This is me - I even started trying to reorganize yesterday and went back to my bike cave where everything is tidy and organized (sort of)
  20. nope look at the picture, its a whole fork
  21. Usually a big fan but this is 300 grams heavier than the 2021 scalpel I built last year which had a proper seat that normal people ride and pedals that weigh double his Mine however had the standard fox factory 34SC And I left all my stickers and factory paint on C'mon Dangerholm, you're lagging behind s-sub-10kg-hyper-spark-xc-dream-bike-w-stratospheric-spec-list/ Nope Dangerholm, you usually impress and inspire me but I built a lighter 2021 scalpel last year 300 grams lighter and it had proper pedals and a seat you can actually sit on without getting piles plus an actual stem - plus his is usually a medium and mines a large Ok I didn't have the electronic fork but I did leave all the stickers on
  22. this is making me feel guilty, really guilty - I thought my workshop was organised and now it needs a revamp
  23. I am so sucked into the apple ecosystem that I'm here for life because I'm an old dog unwilling to learn new tricks. The last time I used anything else was windows 95, a nokia phone and a sony CD walkman Got sucked in so long ago I'm trapped
  24. Very annoying agreed but maybe it’s like my situation - I mostly view on my iPhone where I can never see if I have a message or even if I’ve gotten a like Only when I check on my computer do I pick up the messages and even then not always But sometimes I’ve seen stuff advertised, tried to get in touch and then seen that the seller hasn’t been online for 5 days
  25. It not about Uniondale, it’s about the road there but you know that better than most
