  1. Mobu? Unicorn ????
  2. All points valid, I don’t think anyone thinks heyday Cav is back but it’s great to see him win a couple of races - winning breeds confidence and hopefully we will see him scrap it out in some bigger races What I’d like to know is what is his real speed like - if they lined up on a street could he compete with Bennet He could also end his career as a dynamic lead out man and mentor
  3. Great service from evobikes
  4. Used to have a few of these but then adulting meant selling my manly possessions Something about old signs, old cars, old bikes
  5. It’s original and I didn’t pay much but I’ve had it for a long time - it’s so neat it looks fake
  6. Back home to wash my mountain bike - did a short hard local event - 38km and 800 elevation - plus 10 there and 10 back home Was nice to “race”
  7. the only one that cost money is the digger and instigator of general madness, Dave the lab Dave is rather large for 5 months but that's probably from stealing food from the gardener, the other dogs, off the weber, the cats and pretty much anyone or anything
  8. My gang chilling
  9. For sure the money comes into play but there’s the unquantified value of being able to smugly continue with life without interruption One thing you can guarantee in SA is that your payback period will diminish
  10. Do it if for no other reason than to have the best post ever on boast about your latest purchases
  11. Car wash loop from Wilderness up to seven passes and back
  12. Thanks for sharing - so when are you buying the gxr?
  13. Very impressive well done - I’m going to give it a bash soon, really soon but I’ll have to overnight - I don’t like to ride in the dark. Besides I couldn’t do 300km in one go Let us know your gravel set up sometime
  14. Fantastic - did you overnight anywhere or did you smash it in one go.m? How many of you? I have done all of this route but in sections and I’m keen to do the loop but I’d need at least 2 night to enjoy 300km
  15. That’s not a mountain bike, it’s clearly a bmx
  16. A gravel bike should have drop bars but that doesn’t mean it has to You can ride your mtb on the road but it’s not a roadbike None of it matters as long as you are happy and riding I’ll confess to having drunk the gravel bike cool aid but every now and then my fancy Ti gravel bike reminds me of my first mtb which was a giant hard tail - loved that bike and love my gravel bike Ride whatever you like wherever you like if it works for you Bike snobbery is nonsense although my curve gravel bike is better than whatever you’re riding and I look super cool trying my best not to look like a bicyclist
  17. Yes but I completely agree with you, no bottle cage suits a C40
  18. What about these - Ti and available locally
  19. Did you find the whole groupset you were hunting?
  20. I thought about this but having staff in this country is for the brave and stupid. For sure some people make a success out of it as I did for at least half of my 22 years but mostly I just made a salary and lead a great lifestyle which is invaluable. I sold my premises, gave FNB their share and literally gave away the machinery I could - some stuff I couldn't even give away When you make a product all about price, someone is always going to find a way to be cheaper. Whatever is in my future I want no part of staff, BEE or unions. I have no desire to create employment and be punished for it
  21. quite honestly the only bike that would get over this section is a motocross bike in the hands of a very skilled rider. So a gravel bike is fine for 98 of the 100km loop. If I had my full sus I probably would have turned around and freewheeled home.
  22. right product at the right price and the market has never been better in my opinion. I recently did a clear out and sold everything except a bike I was surprised no one bought. So I stripped the bike and got more money than I was after for the parts and I still have the frame BUT, there is a lot of rubbish out there. As for lowballers, they used to wind me up but now I simply type "no thanks" and don't even get annoyed.
  23. Time wise and for practicality this is the one of the best ways to do it - not everyone is able to take off a week. I plan to build some cottages on my land and offer accommodation for this sort of day to 2 day ride types. If my guests look slow enough I'll even "guide" them One of my many so far unfruitful ideas as I ponder my unemployment
  24. I’ve had AXS for a while and after 1 ride I swapped the shifting as it felt counter intuitive - did the same with my gravel bike The GX option looks awesome
