  1. Ulf is named after the Neo Nazi brother in the TV show Dogs of Berlin. My step daughter describes him as HOOOOOOOTTT.
  2. That's what my guy is. If you want one be prepared for for a dog that draws a crowd wherever he goes. He's a proper handful at times but he is switched on like no other dog I've ever seen. Honestly tho I don't think he's any worse from a chewing and destroying furniture perspective than my Shepard was at this age. I had a Shepard before and he was/is also super smart. I'm no dog expert. So when we got him we watched a few vids. They all say that if you can't keep the dog mentally and physically stimulated then don't get one. So he gets walked EVERY day rain (he's not a fan) or shine and the walks incorporate some training. He also gets a dedicated 15-20 minutes every day of training. And he also gets a bit of play time with balls and tug toys. Doing that religiously seems to keep him from tearing up the garden and chilling next to mom most of the day. He also gets a fresh bone/achilies every week to keep his teeth away from the table legs. The cats are dicks and play straight into his chase/hunt instincts. I'm a big believer in dog training for all dogs after my Shepard and this guy is going to finish his puppy classes and then move on to something a little more intense. Of all the dog breeds if one wants a Shepard type of dog I believe it really has to be stimulated and worked. It makes them happy.
  3. So my better half and I decided that I'll take charge of the dog training. She dispenses love, walks and food. I pick up poo and do walks and training. I took him to his second puppy class yesterday. His first class was a bit of a shambles with all the new dogs and smells etc. Yesterday. OMG! He cleared all of the dog agility obstacles. All. His recall was perfect. His slack lead walking has been 100's from day 1. The dog trainer said "you have an amazing dog here. I've never seen such a rock solid malinois before" It's as if he was there for a little redemption. And as we were leaving a lady came past on her horse. He's never seen one before so I expected chaos. Nope. Aaaaand then he ruined my step daughter's knitting this morning.
  4. BOOM! 23rd at the moment for Theo. 3 and a bit seconds off Greg. It isn't only a hometown race for the frenchies.
  5. I recognize teeni bits of the track. The bit where the dam is is where one of the bikepark black trails start and there's a few bits where they use the black. Those jumps in the woods. are park of the black. What the video doesn't show is that those jumps are actually very large. And that hill is k@k steep Normally you can only access the bottom half of the mountain with bikes. The top half is walkers only. Wellllll you can ride UP the fire road but why would you when you have access to the skilifts.
  6. I don't think we're going to be training our chap to that level. But a friend has suggested proper attack training. He has two Shepards that are trained in that sort of stuff. I'm not sure I have the stomach for that. But he is a working dog. He's 11 weeks old and already doing plats (got to have german commands) and retrieving balls. He already does slack lead walking. He's pretty much house trained. He does have the odd accident but that's my fault really. I had a shepard (my ex wife has him now) and he was sharp. This guy is maybe even brighter. He came with the sit app pre installed. I need to find him a SWAT harness. Something badass. We were going to get a bullie but I'm going to contact the breeder and tell her to take me off the list. this guy is a handful. I've really missed having a dog in my life for the last 7 years.
  7. Hahaha. He certainly causes a stir wherever we go with him. They don't seem to be that common in SA.
  8. Meet Ulf the Belgian Malinois.
  9. Went for a quick one on chappies yesterday arvo. Juuuuust sneaked a hole in the rain. It was epic. Wet roads. Amazing smells. And big corduroy lines coming in on the ocean. Then we took the new pooch for a walk and ran a few hundred meters with him. As soon as he's 6 months old he's going to join us. I think the neighbor is secretly feeding him Red Bull so we need to use up some of that energy.
  10. I honestly don't understand the confusion. Unless you own the land or have specific permission from the land owner, an activity card, paid a membership or paid for access you are trespassing. Especailly on a dirtbike. You can't just pull your bike off the bakkie and ride where you want. This isn't crust demons of dirt. The primary reason I no longer have a dirtbike is because of the lack of available places to ride the things.
  11. Nic let me touch his BMC at Vida last year. Hoping he goes well. For the GC I'd like Rog to pull it off.
  12. I don't think that's going to work. The Fenix is it's own stand alone gps and HRM. I doubt it will link to another gps device. I think you're better served getting a HR strap. I don't have a fenix but I do have a Neostrack and a Suunto and they've never spoken to each other.
  13. Yissie we're so slow it's a 2 song run.
  14. Les Gets is going to be BONKERS in 2 weeks time. The odds of a non French winner are slim IMO. Social Distancing? Not so much. I want to go there again. Just ONE last time. Vir Oulaas. I'll send the chatel river gap this time. I promise.
  15. Theo Erlangsen has been invited to Red Bull Hardline. It's going to be in July. Hardline is the best MTB even of the year IMO.
  16. That yellow is color matched to My Urus and my wife's skin. I'm taking that as a sign. IN!
  17. 1 GIG LINE!!!!! Toot Toot.

So the 33 has extended his deal with KTM and Remy Gardner has signed for the KTM satellite team. They are building a rather formidable lineup IMO. I really like the way KTM staff their teams. You can see it in the Moto X teams. Cairoli has been a KTM guy and with his same team since 2010. Same with Herlings and now Jorge Prado. In the US it seems more of a hired gun scenario but I think you'll see Cooper Web in orange till the end of his career And Marv has been on a multi year KTM deal. Aaron Plesinger is rumored to be moving to KTM next year. I think if he does he'll stay put. Incidentally the KTM team manager is South African Ian Harrison. And Aldon Baker is the contracted KTM coach. Also a Saffer.
  19. Hehe. Just messing. Bikes are amazing things. Wishing you many happy smiley miles.
  20. Wait till you hit 200 it's pretty violent on a bike... Oh that's a Harley. Nevermind. 100 is fast.
  21. We've been threatening to sell our 2 places and consolidate for a few years now. We had a tick list of things we absolutely had to have and a list of nice to have's. Anyone looking to buy I'd strongly recommend a tick list so you don't get swayed by emotion and agent pressure. One of the things was a mancave area for me. The day we moved in I had to fight hard to retain the man cave. It's basically an addition to the garage where I imagine a trailer would be parked under normal circumstances. We saw a place for sale on P24 that was honestly 2-3 mil under value. That prompted us to pull the trigger. We immediately put or places on the market and put in a subject to offer. Long story short we lost out on that but what we ended up with suits our family dynamic far better. We have a "blended family" as the agent put it. We've got 2 living areas and my partners daughter has her room upstairs. So she has her own bathroom and space. Plus there's space for the bikes and boards and wetsuits. I've set up my smart trainer in the man cave part of the garage and I'm pleased to report that both of the women in my life have also jumped on the Rouvy bandwagon. When we came to look it was let and the tenants made is VERY uncomfortable. It later transpired that they were looking to buy it themselves so they obviously figured let's make it uncomfortable for any potential buyers. The only thing missing are some dogs. There's a female bullterrier on order with a breeder so hopefully we'll adopt one of those mad racing pigs in November.
  22. You can tell it's kerk steep coz you keep seeing the saddle.
  23. I don't want to derail this thread with technicalities coz causing harm someone who is merely doing their job is pretty disgusting. But to be clear. We as citizens of this country are the land owners. Not Sanparks. And more specifically TMNP is owned by us the citizens of Cape Town. Sanpark's business is extracting money from a resource that they do not own. Their mandate might be conservation but they are APPALING at it.
  24. Wait WHAT? Why? There's the WC track and a red.
