  1. What would be the best solution to run my router and fibre box for the duration of load shedding? I'm looking for the best solution and the cheapest. A UPS will set me back around R1500 but what are the alternatives?
  2. AFAIK Medupi is only capable of producing around a third of the electricity of what its supposed to generate due to poor construction and installation quality.
  3. My bad, I took 0 degrees as legs being straight or normal to the floor. So the angle the legs bend and not the angle between the femur and tibia.
  4. I cannot refuse to agree with anything Josh is saying due to his sheer ignorance. This is also not me agreeing with him, however, if your legs are parallel to the floor in a squat your knees will be bent more than 90°, say around 95-105° if I had to guess. If your legs were bent less than 90° when your legs are parallel you would probably fall backwards if you squat with enough weight. And yes school today is easier than it was a few years back. University stats back up that claim with the amount of students struggling in first-year.
  5. I have a question regarding the inspection of a cracked carbon bike, do you only inspect the crash area or do you inspect the whole bike? Also what method do you use to pick up on cracks in the frame after a crash?
  6. What was the outcome Hairy?
  7. Out of curiosity, what would a shop quote on a repair like this, considering multiple cracks and possibly a crack fork steerer? As Bogus said it is not just a simple lap and pap job.
  8. My conclusion from the video is to get the Sony WF-1000XM3 buds he spoke about in the videos which will be cheaper or at the very least the same price as the air pods. He mentions that they are superior in every way except for basically the size of the case and connecting to a device which you do once when you get the earphones.
  9. This guy is brilliant, he does metal covers of all genres of music.

    RIFLE

I inherited an Aya boxlock side by side from my father and I believe it was his father's that he inherited. The engraving on it is not so detailed as in this one, I will try to see if I have some photos of it somewhere. How did you clean the engraving? I want to clean it without accidentally causing more damage.
  11. I received the same pair this week after watching it go on and off sale at Takealot for about three months. I am mighty impressed by the sound quality, it might just be that it is the most expensive headphones I have ever owned. The NC is good but not nearly as good as the Sony pair I tested, it might just be that the effect of the NC in a shopping centre is much more pronounced than in an office where is it already moderately quiet. I don't even know the NC is on so there is no interference from it. At the end of the day, I think it is the best bang for buck pair of NC headphones to buy if you don't want to spend on a Bose or Sony pair. I like: Bluetooth connection to laptop and phone, music on laptop mutes when I receive an incoming call.Long Battery life, I Got about four days worth of music out of a single chargeConnection using NFC is quick and easyControls are all on one ear and very intuitiveI dislike: The cups can be a bit on the small side, you have to shift it around a bit to get a nice fitThere is no indicator to see if NC is on, it only shows when you switch it onThe voice prompts when connecting or turning it on or off is a bit loudIt came with a poor quality bag, I would prefer some hard case that I can throw in my bag
  12. It would be an interesting study to test these bridges to failure.
  13. Where did you fit the bottle cage for this?
  14. The overpriced issue goes hand in hand with qualified or experienced mechanics. There are more than a few people who pay extra and drive further to have their bikes worked on by professional and experienced staff. People are willing to pay that's no the issue, the issue is that some shops ask these ridicules fees without investing in proper mechanics or sending their mechanics on training and then expecting us to pay the fees, because "that's what everyone is asking". At least that is how I see it. I prefer to work on my own bike except for wheels and dampers, I am not a qualified mechanic, but it is my own bike so I take my time to do it right and maintaining your bike is part of cycling to me.
  15. Quick question, how do you deal with a stiff link in the chain? I don't want to do something that would potentially weaken it.
  16. Or maybe it needs to be epoxied in place.
  17. Thought I was the only one with fork and shock service manuals printed in a file. My face palm moment was servicing my rear shock from the manual, the last few steps was assembly and I could not for the life of me get the shock to screw together. After almost giving up and having one last look at the manual, turns out the last page had a back with two more steps, I only had to put the half-assembled shock back into the frame and use the leverage get the two sections close enough to screw toghether.
  18. I think I saw somewhere some dry ice around the seatpost seemed to work if not it might be possible to use the dry ice on the seatpost and a bit of heat on the frame.
  19. I think the point he is trying to make is that there is no standard set that one can expect from bike mechanics. It really is a gamble when taking your bike somewhere because anyone can say I can fix bikes without producing any form of certification to do so. Experience does ineed trump qualifications but you don't know how much experience someone has when walking into the shop and we might be able to tell if a part is not serviced right or that the bolts are not tightend correctly, other people pick up their bikes from the lbs and go for a ride because to them it has been to the "pro's".
  20. I normally prefer not to pick them up when I am in the mountain, but they seem to find me!
  21. I wouldn't mind a toolset in a Pelican case like this to be able to keep it clean, I use the garage for woodworking and servicing bikes. I do enjoy it when everything can be neatly displayed on the wall.
  22. Nice! Workshop pictures are awesome! Good to see the ideas someone has when putting up tools, setting out a workshop etc.
  23. If you don't have a cable cutter, you can cut cables with a Dremel/grinder, without the end fraying, by wrapping some masking tape or insulating tape around where you want to cut.
  24. Reminds me of the time I replaced the front brake pads right before a ride with the intention to bed them on the ride, first down hill section at Eden rode almost right into a tree because I forgot...
