  1. What about Farr. They have (or had) gravel bikes for sale. They originate from PE
  2. Please post some pictures of the finished product.
  3. I've said this before. I miss the old days where you could comment on an advert. Where your statement/question was visible to others. A few days ago, there was a bike for sale. Exact same pictures, two different sellers and a R9k price difference. My fingers were itching to say something. Maybe a completely rational reason, but I would have loved to know why.
  4. That would be 22 on the list. Please edit your post
  5. 16. Whilst on that topic, in mtb terms a vertical shock is always better.
  6. I've seen complaints on the hub about these being very flexible. Perhaps do a search. From my understanding, these are generic Chinese wheels that have been packaged and branded with Dark Horse. A lot of people have been happy with them too.
  7. Actually, Bogus, an industry professional with oodles of experience said that he would not repair it.
  8. Raleigh as we knew it then is long gone. Silverback has grown exponentially. Having said that, Raleigh disappeared for other reasons.
  9. Despite my comments above, I agree having a repaired frame is a *** one. I would fight it as nicely as possible with them. If it seems as if you are not going to win the fight, ask them for a copy of the repairers accreditation certificate (just like a panel beater must be accredited with the RMI). Also ask for the qualifications of the repairer. I bet that they can't supply either. Most repairers are self taught and there is no college providing training or accredited apprentiship. Without these certificates, you will have a good argument to take them to the ombudsman
  10. Insurers don't care about the value, they will put you back in the position you were before and that was to have a rideable bike. The wording of the policy is structured that way.
  11. Insurance companies have a clause in their policies basically stating that they have no responsibility towards future values
  12. Insurance Companies usually have a clause in their policies giving them the option of a repair.
  13. That's proper service.
  14. Sure, I work for a big 4 firm and we sponsor quite a bit in terms of mounting biking. I think they have realized the potential in it. They also, as a kind of benefit, pay staff entry fees for all sorts of events and give clothing etc to compete in. It's quite refreshing, my previous employer (SARS) would nt even subsidise a Christmas lunch.
  15. We were talking VAT not income tax. A company will never get a VAT claim on a yacht used to entertain clients. There's been age old discussions about this on the VAT front. As mentioned bona fide advertising (ie paying a pros entry) shouldn't be a problem. The issue is Joe Soap paying his entry via his own company or a company paying for their employees to compete. This is borderline entertainment (as defined in VAT legislation and not the ordinary meaning) and SARS will argue as such. If you can argue the advertising part (which you do have valid points) the company is exposing itself to fringe benefit VAT by paying the employee's entry. This will negate any claim they may have had.

    Who remembers?

I always thought he was Afrikaans
  17. Check again...just to be safe...
  18. E-filing is a stuff up. The list of problems are endless. We've sent a list of all issues to SARS. I suggest waiting a day or two before submitting anything.
  19. From what I've seen, he seems to be in favour of discs. Didn't he trade in that Colnago for a disc bike.
  20. I was beginning to think I was the only person on the Hub that doesn't like discs.
  21. Every year I say I'm going to do it and every year I end up working at a watering point. We have just as much fun helping the riders. It's an awesome event.
  22. If you are buying new, hang on a bit. There's a new one coming to market soon
  23. That is the second hand market. People buy second hand and from the Hub to get bargains. You will always get people who will lowball you. They are trying to score a bargain. It's the nature of selling anything used.
