  1. in a test a few years ago i maxed at 172 (i have seen my hr at 179 and 184 during races over the years but had a cateye hrm which was not downloadable). so i should go and get tested again to find out my max hr.
  2. Raced over the weekend on the mtb and absolutely died on one hill, when i checked my Polar HR was surprised to see that my max was only 155 (i expected at least something in the high 160's or low 170's). ok , so i must be due for a rest......checked my resting HR this morning and it came in at a low of 43 and an average resting HR over 8 minutes at 51 bpm and a high of 61. this is not too bad but what puzzles me is my max of 155, it should be higher. am i correct in assuming the lower the resting HR , the higher the max.
  3. She tries to hit tennis balls past other people every day as her chosen job. and she is very good at it. and has made a s***load of money doing it but at the expense of her "family life". thats sad.
  4. " 5 ways to get the skinny on losing fat" , "10 secrets to climb like a pro". ferking hell if i see another headline like again i will puke.
  5. Lill should have gone - the hilly course would have suited him.
  6. there is just too much racing Categories at the champs. just have Elite , Elite Women, Juniors racing. then have a separate Champs event for Vets 30-39 , 40 - 49 and 50+. how can you have 5 or 6 people racing for medals (and provincial colours) in 5 year age categories. School kids can be separated into Junior and High School categories. my 2 c
  7. Life was so good under the Nat goverment. i so hark back to the days when we didn't have to worry about who would be represnting us in the Olympics RR. Louis Luyt could of told NZ last year " you cant' call yourself Champs, if u have'n beaten us".

  9. on the few occasions that i have travelled o/seas with my bike, i just took off the rear deraileur and wheeled the bike as is up to the counter, weighed it and then the airline called a "back office chap" who wheeled it away to the back. the bike was alway the first out at my destination.
  10. do you really need a box? yours should be the only bike on the plane. my experience is that they take greater care of an article if they know what it is. a box is just a box. they never read the writing no matter just big "fragile" is printed.
  11. haven't had the cyclelab experience yet. can't find the one in milnerton.
  12. if you want cycling coverage , get to know the sports editor / reporters at the newspaper and ask if you write the report yourself will they publish it. 9/10 they will if it is recent news and topical. how do you think the Argus is able to get reports on most club and school cricket / soccer and rugby matches.
  13. LW has turned the CSA in the right direction , give him time to get results.
  14. the PPA finance guy brought up this issue at the meeting, i'm just repeating what LW said and it was not disputed by anyone from the floor or ppa.
  15. re the bookkkeeper - LW explained at the PPA special meeting that funds went missing before he was pres but that when it was discovered during his presidency a human resources consultant advised that too much of a time gap had lapsed between the money being "stolen and paid back" and discovered that she was given a written warning. when it happened again she was fired immediately.
  16. the 3 Pta/Jhb provinces are Central Gauteng, Northern Gauteng and Southern Gauteng each with their own champs. i heard that the elites/pros don't ride because there is no prize money. why don't they do like WP/Boland and have a WP Open Champs iow have an Open Gauteng champs, thye might even attract cyclists from neighbouring provinces.
  17. The Great Events Co ride hoped to attract about 1 500 riders last year but didn't even attract half the amount of riders it attracted in the 1st year. they then made all their staff redundant. it doesn't seem as if they will be carrying on with other rides
  18. road - its the 1st WPCA event of the "winter"
  19. theres a cycling event at Muldersvlei
  20. Anyone know how the process works to get a person elected onto the CSA Comittee at the upcomiung congress. I am talking track commissioner here, no not me. they must be nominated by a province.
  21. judging from the comments regarding the CGC's champs and the going ons at HNP in other threads it doesn't look like Giovanni can run CGC let alone the CSA. its time other provinces started drumming up support for their nominations.
  22. was waiting for that reply........GO and Chunky, step up and canvass clubs to nominate you. i dare you.
