  1. Thats what i thought. The broken alu frame sitting on my desk believes otherwise!
  2. Might be a stupid question - but will you be able to upload your routes onto your PC and vice-versa? And will you be able to get data such as climbing and gradient etc?
  3. Just heard that friends of mine had 4 mtbs stolen on sunday from a garage in the pta east olympus area. I will try to get photos asap, but will give a description from what I can remember for now: 1 x schwinn messa (mustard and grey) has mech disc brakes 1 x scott (I think its an older scale 40) blue and black 1 x GT avalanche 1.0 (older black model with gold in the stickers) not sure what the 4th bike is Please be on the lookout for these bikes. Will try to get photos soon.
  4. I have the following: 31.6mm carbon seatpost (no-name) Guizzo carbon flatbar - quite light look keo carbon pedals + cleats brand new tiagra bb (italian thread) RavX herculite 110mm carbon wrap stem (oversize) I want: 90mm oversize stem (0 degree) and I might consider some other random things If ur interested, I'll take pics
  5. yip. If you dont know whats going on, please dont tell people to go out and buy a truck load of new equipment! All you need to do is adjust the limit screws so that the FD can only go between the 2 chainrings that you have. On my bike I have a gripshifter and FD for a triple crankset, but I'm only running a large and middle ring, and it works perfectly....
  6. disc brakes? My best guess is when you brake the side of the wheel with the disc is pulled closer to the fork and away from the sensor.
  7. If anyone is going to do an order I have a 10 pound voucher that you can have as it needs to be used in the next 2 weeks and I wont be doing any ordering in that time.
  8. I think they get most of their stuff from here oddee
  9. you wont get a new bike for 5k. I tried a while ago, eventually went for a 2nd hand bike with 10spd ultegra for R6,5 I think.
  10. I'm not sure I understand your question properly, but I think you're asking about the brakes, chain and hubs? I think M505 brakes and M595 hubs are all deore components. Dono if that helps at all?
  11. The same thing has been done to me by hubbers...
  12. Dis leeu-koud in pretoria! (dont ask what it means - figure it out )
  13. I just saw another cyclist down. It was on hans stryjdom near the highway. It seemed to be a commuter ("worker/gardener type"). The body was still lying on the road covered with a black bag. Very sad to see...
  14. I want to stab her in the face with a wooden spoon...
  15. wow, looks like you already robbed a bank! Nice bike! I would say you could save a bit of weight on the brakeset and wheels, but from the weight you're at now, anything is going to cost a lot.
  16. Not a friggin chance you're getting me onto a bike at 5am in WINTER!!! Much less at the speed of a road bike! Let me know again when its summer Afternoons - maybe. It all depends on my classes and tests (i.e no riding for the next 2 weeks )
  17. yip, too true. Thats why I always wait for green and check if the cross traffic is stopping, but you can still get hit all too easily.
  18. on my road bike - waaay 2 often and that P%*#%S me off cause its usually idiots missing my bars by a few centimeters. On my mtb - seldom as the only time I'm near cars is at intersections. I kinda try think for the car - i.e you can usually judge when some idiot is going to turn, even though his indicator is off, by the way he is decelerating/drifting to the side of the lane etc.
  19. I reckon 1.6kg is decent for a wheelset, as long as the price is right When it comes to tyres you're going to open a can of worms here! Personally I like my racing ralph EVOs (non-ust). They weigh about 500g each. 2 problems with them tho; they're stupidly expensive, and wear quite quickly if you ride on tar. A friend that I ride with likes his maxxis aspens. They look quite decent, cost about half of racing ralphs and weigh a bit less if I remember correctly. But as I said, you're going to get 100 different opinions when it comes to tyres! Let us have a pic or 2 of the bike when its done
  20. Eish, I dont think so hey... I've got a heavyish frame (1,6kg) but most of my other stuff is light - full KCNC cockpit, ESI grips, X0 gripshifters + RD, juicy carbon brakes, alligator rotors, reba fork, american classic wheelset and racing ralph evo non-ust tyres (running tubeless tho). I think mine comes in at about 10.4kg at the moment... I think your biggest problem is your wheelset and tyres - if you lose some weight there you could go below 10kg
  21. but if u ever need anything done with ur american classics bring them over to my place. They are super easy to work on.
  22. haha, true. Sorry man, I meant to come but I'm just so tired I couldn't get out of bed...
  23. Haha, weenie take apart a freewheel? You must be joking
  24. Barely alive...Haven't done proper riding in a while, been on the roadie a bit cause I need my freehub serviced and I'm too lazy to put sealant into my racing wheels But we must go ride again sometime man!
  25. I hate u If u get your bike down to 8,7kg I will refuse to ride with u!
