  1. My bad. I read the first post as that he thinks the reason for the time delay is because of the wheel issue.
  2. One of the fundamentals of insurance is that you have to have an insurable interest. Your friends wheels do not fall under this category. As to the wheels your wheels did not incur any damage and as such will not be replaced or paid out. If you were underinsured ie got the benefit of paying a lesser premium, you will be paid out a percentage. I am not sure as to the wording of your insurance contract and say the above from the perspective of general rules of insurance. It is normally not in your best interest to go the legal route for the difference. Just my 2 cents worth.
  3. I have run the ultra a few times during the late 80's and early 90's. As I had nothing to do on the days of the expo I had a daytrip from Paarl just to feel the vibe again. All i can say is that a fish rots from the head. Untill such time as the current board is no longer I will not do the race again. It is a beautifull race sort of screwed up by the board.Pretty much how I currently view our country.I was thinking of doing it with my son , but alas things must first change at the top before I make that journey again.
  4. I would start with correctly determining what the correct hr zones are FOR HER. Secondly get something that measures the heartrate accurately ie a chest strap. Set up the zones correctly and work from there. Until such time as you know you have set up the zones correctly and then measure it accurately it is a futile exercise in my view and it is then better to work on RPE.
  5. I spent 9 hours on the back of the motorbike and it is always interesting to see how many people on full tri bikes sitting upright as they are just to tired to be in the bars. Riding next to the pros they stay in the bars for most of the time. That is why they are pros. Well done on your effort on a proper difficult day.
  6. I was a TO/Referee on the race.It was proper tough race for sure.
  7. A lady was sexually assaulted on Paarlberg last Saturday just after 07:00. She was hiking/running. A suspect was later arrested.
  8. my old trusty 920 xt buttons decided to go on a loop sequence.tried everything no joy.courierd to garmin sa and then started to enquire.3 weeks later i get an email saying the button is stuck but they can give me a replacement unit at ballpark R9000. I mailed if there are cheaper options and followed up repeatedly. It is now 9 weeks with no feedback.i bought a second hand 920 xt in the meantime for R 1500 and will use it till it dies. I have mailed again today as to what prize for a certain model.Short answer for me is that since they moved from the M5 i have not had joy from Garmin.
  9. 226 refers to IM distance in km so it is their upper end garment. Orca apparel is good quality ,but to each his own as the most important part is comfort. What works for one person does not always work for the other.
  10. I think once you have sold an item it is for the new owner to do with as he pleases.
  11. I have been on the motorbike on the bike route the last 2 years of this event. The number of people having aero bars and sitting upright is extremely high. If you go the aero bar route make sure you are comfortable sitting in the bars.
  12. same name as from day 1 , but then I am only a youngster on the hub here for the last 15 years. as per certain 1000 post count i will still not be able to sell to x , but that is about to change in 4 posts. guess i will be a legit hubber then. i have always enjoyed this forum.
  13. Anyone have a name or contact details of where to look for a shop that sells compress sport triathlon pants and tops in greater cape town area.
  14. I have tried the SiSu gel ,but for me the consistency was too gooye and I struggled to get it down.Had to use it with quite a lot of water to go down smoothly. The maurten gels are pricey ,but you definately get what you paid for if you can get through the funny consistency.
  15. I guess I am a few models behind. Still using my red and white 920 xt and it tells me everything I need and battery still gets me through IM. I realy realy hope it does not die anytime soon.
  16. Good luck to all running this weekend.Travel safe and remember this is your hobby. Do it in such a way that you can do it again.
  17. The current form of Froome and for some time now is that of a boxer fighting past his prime and tarnishing his legacy.
  18. There are many more questions and opinions on this matter. However it is extremely difficult to discuss a matter so complex in not only human nature but also in legal nature on a forum like this.I do think that CSA did the right thing. The administrative side of the law and the criminal side and the possible civil actions that might flow from this scenario are endless.I do feel for the victims(the minors) in this case and I hope they will find peace in one or other way. I make the above observation from a legal perspective having practiced criminal law after being a prosecutor in the childrens court for nearly 30 years.
  19. How is the podium holding out? I am looking at buying podium but would be interested to know how well they lasted/lasts?
  20. mine is so old that any thief that has style will not take mine.
  21. do you need to wash it down with water? are you also going to use their fuel in scoops in a bottle?
  22. For me it is more the after the fact cover up that upsets me wrt the 2 oceans thing.
  23. the ugly bike went quite fast.
  24. It depends how deep the scratches are. I have used toothpaste previously to remove scratches from garmin face when I swam into lane ropes at pool.Your other option would be to take it to a spectacle shop and see if they can get it out as they sometimes remove scratches and swirls from reading and sunglasses. Hope you get right.
  25. I have learned the hard way that you have to train your gut to accept and distribute the amount of carb you can take. Start with small amounts and gradualy increase. You will find the tipping point between performing and standing bent over in bushes or looking for the nearest loo. This should all be done during training and then adjusted to race conditions.Train your gut
