  1. Newbie question here. I am riding the cross cape route so i’m looking for a fast rolling tyre. i put some Rekon race 2.3 tyres on rims with 30mm internal width but the tyre has a very square profile on these rims. Are any other tyres more suited to wider rims?
  2. You’re all moaning about e-bikes but the huge crashes and injuries were around the 1A group
  3. I wouldn’t recommend any of them to be honest, they’re just a bit dated for the price…. especially for 16k
  4. Castelli do nice shorts but sizing is more for lanky than stocky people
  5. What does that mean, how did you write them off?
  6. There are plenty of generic ‘Chinese’ wheels for sale. I would take them any day over the big name brands.
  7. The biggest hurdle I faced was finding an installer who wasn’t a scammer and would do a good job. I got a recommendation from a friend and had mine installed today. I used APS and I am very happy with their work. Call Sadeik on 082 905-5537 (I have zero affiliation with them) The first guys that came to quote were scammers and were on Carte Blanche! It’s a scary prospect to pay out 80k deposit to someone you don’t know.
  8. I will be on the lookout for a clean shaven man! Possibly the worst description ever
  9. Wow, what time was this. 3 of used that route this morning on our way to chappies. I didn't even think that was a risky section
  10. No chance, there are so many ways to get onto that cycle lane that it makes policing it impossible.
  11. Hi Chris, Instead of taking sneaky photos you should have come over and had breakfast with our 5h58min team! 🤩 It was an epic day
  12. I'm VERY surprised to hear that.
  13. Did you check the weather, the 22nd is tomorrow
  14. They look very slow, I bet the sweeper vehicle will pull them out the race.
  15. Doesn't look like training to me, lazy buggers
  16. Thanks for the reply. I work with a laptop so don't need anything for loadshedding apart from my small UPS for fibre & router. I'm happy to let the sun power the geysers, washing machine etc during the day and work my schedule around them.
  17. YES, I definitely feel a difference riding with the Flare R
  18. Does anyone have a setup without batteries, i.e. Having solar panels power geysers, washing machines and pool pumps etc during the day
  19. Most people don't know and most shops won't tell you that the GP5000TL's (as opposed to the TR) are not compatible with hookless tubeless rims. They are also a MASSIVE PITA to get on and off. I ran a set of Goodyear F1's for 6000 trouble free kilometres and I'm afraid to say I couldn't feel the 2 watt extra that I had to pedal. I think describing them as a handbrake is slightly dramatic
  20. Did you give them your phone so they could type their number?
  21. What are you talking about. I'm talking about 5 bar, not 500 bar. You have to pump your tyres up to ride don't you. So are you constantly riding worried that the tyre will blow up?
  22. Is this a joke, the chocolate croissants are always sold out... I need to get there quicker
  23. There are many ways to skin a cat but for the best and most reliable results I use: Stan's yellow tape, Orange Seal & Goodyear F1 tyres. This combination should be good for 6000 trouble free kilometres I have tried Joe's Sealant, Joe's Road Sealant, Stan's, Stan's Race, Sludge and a few others. They only seem to seal the tyre at low pressures. Joe's Road sealant claims it can seal at over 110psi, it doesn't work. I have tried Schwalbe Pro One's, Goodyear F1's & GP5000TR's. They all work very well but the Goodyears has an additional lip on the bead of the tyre which makes it really easy to seal with a hand pump. GP5000TL's are notorious for being a pain in the behind to get on and are not recommended for hookless wheels. The TR's are better but not as easy as Schwalbe or Goodyear. I have used Duct tape or Gorilla tape with varying results. Usually you can see sealant leaking from the nipples which means it has gone past the tape. Orange Seal & Goodyears are available from lanoysports.co.za (I have zero affiliation to them) Gp5000 are >R1300, Schwalbe are ~R1200, Goodyear F1's are R800
  24. You're making it sound so difficult. I changed a spoke 30 minutes ago. I just put rim tape on, then the tyre, then the sealant and pumped it up to 5 bar and finished in 10 minutes. I should have made a video
