Seeing the subject header reminds me of that spoof video game from years back called the "Steroid Olympics" (or something of the like) where the clean and jerk contender rips his arms off due to the weight he is trying to lift!

You pose a great question which really encapsulates how our collective respect for the laws of the road as well as our fellow road users have gone out the window. When I was a laaitjie in primary school I used to cycle to and from school from about std 2 - it was great fun and gave you a sense of independence. Not in a million years would I let my kid (when he gets to that age) cycle to school - or anywhere on our roads for that matter. In my first week of commuting to work I almost got cleaned twice!

Know the route or buy a computer (if you don't already have one) - when I did my first 94.7 I had no idea what the route was so didn't really know how much further it was to the finish as I didn't have a computer either.

Pretty much the reason I don't watch road cycling - bunch of druggies.

Bunch of absolute tjops. I pity the residents as I would have lost the plot with those cyclists a long time ago. Screw thumb tacks on the road - I would insert them into their foreheads if my Sat mornings involved having to deal with them on a weekly basis!

As a non dirt jumper I found this thread rather interesting and informative. I would have thought that unless the jumps are on your personal land they are open to the public but clearly that is not the case - and I do get it that some random nut sacks can come along and damage all your hard work but the way everyone warns about the "locals" reminds me of a scene from a bad surfing movie with Keanu surfing the LOCALS break and getting beaten up as a result thereof. Way too stressful, I will stick to MTB thanks.

I have the AMS Pro 100 (26er) and absolutely love it. No issues (had it for close on 3 years) - really comfortable,fast and tough.

Great initiative by a great school

Not really concerned about who is wrong and who is right here as there are always 3 sides to a story and they do not affect me. My issue is that the Hub is more often than not used as a Hello Peter type forum to lodge complaints in the hope that bad publicity will bring the supposed perpetrator to his/her senses and make matters right as opossed to the oft claimed moral obligation to "warn" others about bad service - especially if there are mitigating circumstances.
