  1. Just remember no pushing off walls in the midmar so a 800m swim in a 25m pool probably equates 700m (if account for 3m gained on the push off the wall at every turn - I am guessing) on flat water.
  2. Have to agree with some of the previous comments - I don't see how Woolies has become the scapegoat for this. Just go to any job website and look at all the BEE/AA only positions. How is this a Woolies only issue - get real. They just failed to use flowery wording in their job specs which is a lot more than can be said for other companies out there. They are simply calling a spade a spade - this is the result of our countries glorious legislation.

  4. Li Mu you clearly miss the point so no point in trying to explain the concept of etiquette to you, just don't whine when someone does give you a klap for cheating. No-one wants to be in the bottleneck and as much as you go on about the race organiser there is not exactly much one can do at that moment in time but wait their turn. You honestly should consider a career in the taxi industry cos clearly they don't think they are doing anything wrong either ie it's the muncipality's fault that there are not enough lanes and its not the taxi drivers fault that all the other cars are waiting their turn instead of driving on verges, oncoming traffic etc. Absurd argument on your part - but hey, maybe that's just me.
  5. Cos he can
  6. Agreed, smacks of poor sportmanship - raise those sorts of issues before you lose. Pity cos he really is a great ambassador.
  7. And from the officials - don't say I don't report from all sides!!! Make your own deductions IPC Athletics rules are in place regarding prosthesis length for lower leg amputees. Since 2010 athletes competing at IPC international competitions have been checked at regular occasions in the Call Room prior to participation. At the London 2012 Paralympic Games all athletes competing in T42/43/44 events (above knee and below knee lower leg amputees) have had their prosthesis measured against the IPC Athletics Rules. This evening all athletes competing in the Men’s 200m T44 final were checked by international classifiers in the Call Room ahead of the race. All were within the regulations outlined in the IPC Athletics Classification Handbook. After the race Oscar Pistorius requested a meeting with the IPC where he voiced his concerns. Craig Spence, IPC Communications Director, said: “Oscar raised a concern with the IPC regarding the rules on the length of prosthesis in T43/44 events. “We agreed to meet with him at a later date so that he could raise his questions in a formal environment away from the emotion of the stadium. “The IPC respects the significant role Oscar has played in raising the global profile of Paralympic Sport since his Games debut in 2004. Therefore we are more than willing to give him an opportunity to air his views in a non-emotional environment at a meeting to be organised at a later date.”
  8. Brazilan's comeback: Alan Fonteles Cardoso Oliveira has laughed off Oscar Pistorius's criticism of the length of his blades after the men's 200m T44 final. The Brazilian said: "The length of my blades are all right because I went through all the procedures with the referees. I'm in the stadium because it's all cleared up and Oscar should know that. "Since the first time I put them on I've been following the IPC rules. I'm very happy. This day I'm writing my story on the Paralympic world."
  9. Complained about the Brazilians blades: Oscar Pistorius didn't mince his words in the wake of his shock defeat to Alan Fonteles Cardoso Oliveira in the men's 200m T44 final. The South African said: "We are not running in a fair race here, absolutely ridiculous. I'm not taking away from Alan's performance but I can't compete with Alan's stride length. The IPC have their regulations and their regulations mean that some athletes can make themselves unbelievable high ... his knee-heights are four inches higher than they should be. "We have spoken to the IPC about the length of these blades but it has fallen on deaf ears. Guys are coming from nowhere to run ridiculous times. I don't know how you pull that back, I run at 10 metres per second and I don't know how someone comes back from eight metres behind in the home straight. It's not right."

  22. I agree that the auctions are great value for money and are cool to be involved in and I honestly do believe that they are done in good spirit as stated above. The only clarity you need is as Kranswurm says - is it closed when it strikes 23:00 or are bids made at 23:00 valid - simple.
  23. Congrats
  24. Wishing the young lady all the best!
