  1. Well done on posting - too often people only post to complain.
  2. How far is that commute one way? Most impressive!
  3. What time do you Capetonians start work in the morning/afternoon?
  4. See if you can borrow a bike for one or two weekends just to confirm that the bug will in fact bite because as Purnjap correctly points out - once the bug bites the 3k bike is not your best option. That's what I did - rode the Spruit twice and hit Northern Farms on a loan bike and knew that it would not be a passing fad. I then knew that it would be better to fork out a few more sheckles for a decent bike. IMHO, a 3k bike is going to give you more grief than joy. Can get a decent Avalanche for a reasonable price.
  5. I also got somewhat sidetracked 2 years back
  6. A mate confirms the sighting and further confirms that the flasher in question was well past her prime. H said he would have been happier with some of the Camps Bay spectators doing same!
  7. Goodwaan
  8. That is why I do not cycle on the road. My brother (currently based in Amsterdam) is an avid roadie, and MTBiker, and I have told him that he risks life and limb should he choose to ride on the roads in SA (and Joeys in particular) when out here during the holidays. Not a day goes by that you don't hear of a cyclist being killed or knocked over on the road. Blind folded stunt flying is a far safer pursuit compared to road riding.
  9. If Holdfast hatch is similar to the Saris Bones I would say go for it - did a round trip from Joeys to Durbs with 3 bikes on the rack and no issues whatsoever.
  10. Do you have it only when riding or throughout the day - if the latter (and it gets worse when sleeping) it could be carpal tunnel syndrome. The tips of my fingers had constant pins and needles sensation. A nerve conduction test will confirm if this is indeed the case. Good luck
  11. Good quality - no complaints
  12. and feeling rather deflated
  13. I will be signing up me thinks
  14. Try contacting Toyota MTN Cycle Park - I would imagine loads of kiddie clubs book group rides there
  15. Could not agree more - from what I saw when driving out to Teak (when it was still open) I would have to say that a large portion of road cyclists are their own worst enemy.
  16. Thanks
  17. Any ideas when results will be published?
  18. Awesome race. Only did the 30kms, the first 6kms was frustrating due to all the bottle necks but after that great riding and fantastic single track. Route marking and marshalling was superb - will be back next year for the 60km. Leeu was your missus wearing blue cycling kit and went down between some trees?
  19. Hi Andrew Thanks for all the feedback and best of luck. I have to agree with Riaanb - you guys are perfectly situated for me so if the service/repair is great you will have a loyal customer - and I break a lot of sh*t! Look forward to sending the bike to you for it's next service.
  20. I was at the petrol station across the road filling up and to me it looked like a pedestrian that got knocked over - no sign of a bicycle. Cyclist or not, it's not a pleasant sight and very bleak.
  21. Agree with you 100% on that one Covie. Alternately save a few extra sheckles and go and do the Trans Alps
  22. Agree with you 100% Katz, I drive out to Northern Farms most weekend mornings to do some MTBiking and the road cyclists behaviour is absolutely ridiculous - not doing themselves any favours in winning over the average motorist.
  23. Contact the product maufacturer directly. I did that when my hub went and the local supplier was passing the buck. Few minutes later local supplier called saying they would replace the hub
  24. I use Halo headband and works like a bomb
