There was def differences in downforce between the 2 cars hence the different aerodynamic reactions as result of a car infront.

When there is no air pressure over the wings to create downforce, the car is not gonna stick to the road as was seen with Vettel. I think he did well to keep it out the wall with the amount of times that steering jarred left to right.

When there is a narrow track with a tight corner like that one, there is no place to go!

Like Brundle said, on a modern day track with huge run off areas, that incident would have gone unpunished and Vettel would still have been infront.

I miss the old days of wheel to wheel racing. What we see these days is not racing but more of a showcase of which car is better. Before a leading car would stuggle to stay out front, now its a struggle to catch up, thats how good the tech has become.

The teams and drivers work their butts off no doubt.

As far as forcing another car off the track, every one took that corner and ended up off the track

yes, i dont understand why there has to be 1 tyre supplier. is the point of F1/MotoGP not to be the pinnacle of motorsport? why let that be influenced by a tyre that appears as if it was developed to suit 1 team only. yes it may be a cost saving measure, but we are talking about F1 here, not the Killarney Cup.

Way too many unnecessary restrictions in F1. Tyres especially. I agree, let the teams have their own tyre suppliers, or have a list of 4 and let the teams choose.

First GP I've watched in years. The various cool watches being worn were pretty impressive. Montreal sure looks pretty. Stroll senior is worth 2.6 B USD, so the Team purchase is a relative buy, like his 200m USD yacht.

ja the Canadian GP is always exciting to watch, because of turn 1 and also the long straights with the extremely hard braking zones, more often than not resulting in brake failure. how was that Mclaren that retired because the suspension melted under the heat generated from the brakes (i think thats what happened?)... thats nuts! and Magnussen being told off by is team boss for complaining like a little "beach" - I dont blame his boss for doing that!

but thats exactly what annoys most people i reckon, too many little girls complaining about nonsense. shut up and get on with racing already!

Formula 1 super license now includes a section where the drivers get a legal class on how to lodge protests over the radio. And get told off by the team principal (Haas) which was hilarious. Bunch of snivelling entitled kids using Daddy's wallet to get them a seat seems to be a trend.

Sorry but pure driving and tactical knowledge should encompass the full ambit of what you can use to win so it's a new era, but something died in Canada when the stewards adjudicated vettel's join as being dangerous.

Villeneuve (whom the track is named after) would have permanently be in front of the stewards.

I have been getting interested again even though its been years since i watched intently and must admit Lewis has Seb's number punched. But they are back to all the decisions happening at the stewards and in the pits.

Compare the last MotoGP race to this and you will see what racing is about....

Oh aI agree 100% with everything you said! MotoGP, the flag drops, the fastest/smartest guy wins, end of conversation. [i am a KTM supporter since the Kawas quit and Rossi lost his balls. cant stand MM93 or JL99, I dont mind the Dukes, fascinating how not everyone can get the best out of them - but i digress...]

Pure driving = WRC... those guys are NEXT LEVEL...

Agreed - Seb is Lewis's bunny this year.

I've also started watching F1 again, and I'll admit that while they look "soft" they're incredibly accomplished drivers.

But they're nothing like the hard men of motorcycle road racing. Those guys at the Isle of Man this weekend were something else. Hamilton vs Dunlop - no contest.

Not an MM fan but he's in another league of late. Rossi is not on the pace with the Yamaha any more. Fascinating race in Mugello. Dukes are super physical as machines so not everyone can master them...

IOM TT ratchets it up to another level of insanity. THat's just really hard men who have no fear of dying. Having ridden Superbikes on track days i even struggle to watch some of those guys. Airtime at 200 MPH ?

I never did trackdays, never had the opportunity, wish I did. I had to get my kicks on Du Toitskloof and Franschhoek pass.

but yes, I concur with your sentiment! balls, not tennis balls, beach balls, thats how big...

Yeah, nobody is on pace with the Yam any more. They're so far off the top speed lists it's embarassing. VR is wringing that thing's neck to get any more out of it and stay with the top 3/5 depending on the track.

I don't think VR has lost it. And the Duc now is VERY different to the Duc that Casey was on, which was VERY different to the one Rossi was on.

You can't really compare riders on the same bikes with vastly different setups to each other, and then try to extend that to different YEARS (like in the case of Stoner vs Rossi, where Stoner left a garage that wasn't listening to him, was getting progressively slower, had no formal rider feedback to speak of so that they could develop the bike in the way it needed to be... And then Rossi, who IS a development rider as well (look how he collabed with Yam when they were prepared to listen to riders back when he changed the firing order and rotation) just wasn't able to get through to the know-it-all italians.
