My grandmother had a mark 3 (I think) Mini for almost as long as she was around. Going for a ride in it was one of the highlights of visiting.

I was devastated when I found out she sold it. It was probably 10 years ago, I for certain would have bought it off her.

Its still a dream to have an old Mini one day

LOVE IT!

The guy's brilliant voice and singing, his discomfort with the situation, his daughter proudly staring at him throughout...

Looks like she was desperate to go to the toilet.

She was/is over the moon. Left half an hour after arriving here for a church camp in Oudtshoorn, with the new car nogal.d55c89ae35551c4843ee2d5b775218f5.jpgf7e852401e797ca3243347e97ed90ed4.jpg774bacd8c3b454cd7fa64ed9ef7b304c.jpg38f5eb9bde271113c518a712d99e8c9e.jpg

Yes she said afterwards that we are real loosers, we always say in a joke that we're going to do something and then we don't, BUT today we went way way waaaaay over her expectations. She is our oldest kid and we are just glad and happy that we could do it and so proud of her and for the most kind hearted, loving person/young lady whom she grew up to be. God fearing and a serious big Christian who always puts everything and everyone before herself.

Now I'll have to drive it up to NW, Potchefstroom and then drive that flippen hard riding 1984 Suzuki SJ410 back home [emoji849][emoji849][emoji43]

Both Kia and Hyundai have some very well respected and knowledgeable people from top brands working on their R&D. Their cars are good, I would rate certain of the products better than the more established alternatives in their class.

Yep.I have had 3 Kia Sorentos since 2005, one Hyundai Elantra and my second car at the moment is the new Cerato (don't know if its made its way to SA yet). The Kia's have been great, my 2005 one at one stage had an interesting fault - its digital clock started to run backwards - repaired under warranty. My 2013 one had a folding key that broke - replaced under warranty. And those have been my only issues with them.

The Hyundai was a perfect performer - until the handbrake disengaged itself whilst parked on a hill and it turned into a runaway. A low probability but high consequence event as it went through a wall and over a retaining wall. Hence the new KIa courtesy of insurance. And a lesson not to rely on just one mechanism to prevent movement.

On any hill, up or down, I put my car in either reverse or 1st gear with handbrake on and wheels turned towards the sidewalk if anything should go wrong.

Surely Just putting it into gear regardless of whether you are facing up or down the hill would suffice as the clutch would need to engaged for it to move. I like the idea of the wheels turned in

I've had many cars )and top brands), and my 2015 Kia Sorrento diesel has been my #1 favorite of them all.

Quite correct, this is good practice. But the hill in question was deceivingly flat at the top. We speculate (there were no witnesses) it must have been a very gradual acceleration to begin with until the hill steepened. But lessons have been learnt...
