Cois Posted May 24, 2016 Share Francois, it really comes down to shooting technique and lighting conditions. Yes IS will help with a stop or 2 , but not alot more. And I don't agree with the statement about it being better during the day. I used the Canon 400l 5.6 for some years and it didn't have IS, got some of my best bird and wildlife images with that. Now with the Sigma 150-600, I shoot with the IS off as I find it slows down the tracking ability of the lens. Same with Canon 70-200 f2.8 mk2.You see I shake like a little girl at a Justin Bieber show...
Veebee Posted May 24, 2016 Share Canon 5d3 at iso12800. Rather have some noise than no image at all. Cleans up well though and still usable. Tumbleweed, Pulse and Frosty

DJR Posted May 24, 2016 Share Was reminded by a young friend who is studying photography to do more black & white, especially portraits.....like in the "old days". Having grown up totally in the digital age, he was blown away when they were taught to do real film developing and printing...."you know in a dark room and everything......man....like wow.....it blew me away.......you old dudes were artists!" Veebee Posted May 25, 2016 Share B&W is fun, and adds mood to a scene. Works well in wildlife too. Cois, Escapee.., Tumbleweed and 1 other

banna Posted May 26, 2016 Share Trying out my new Canon EFS 10 - 18 mm lens. Rhodes Memorial sunrise Friday Morning! What's your opinion so far of the lens? Also seriously considering getting one. Reading really good things about it.
DJR Posted May 27, 2016 Share What's your opinion so far of the lens? Also seriously considering getting one. Reading really good things about it. It's early days still, but this far I'm impressed. I'll post some more pictures as I try it out. I've got some time off the hamster wheel coming up in July and I'll give it a proper workout then. At the moment my feeling is that it is a great landscape lense and very good value for money. It is plastic, so quite light, which is nice, but then obviously not as hard wearing as a metal framed one. Having said that, it feels quite sturdy. Fruity Posted May 31, 2016 Share A few from Comrades day. My attempt at this kind of photography. I think I need to invest in a better lens and get more practice.http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb417/Fruitloop80/DSC_0290aa_zpsitzbiotq.jpghttp://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb417/Fruitloop80/DSC_0361a_zpsq7bo4ojs.jpghttp://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb417/Fruitloop80/DSC_0411a_zpsphh1nbcz.jpghttp://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb417/Fruitloop80/DSC_0412a_zpsgop0jgm7.jpg

Taps Posted May 31, 2016 Share I also like that top photo. A tighter crop (if possible with your lens?) to get rid of extraneous stuff and concentrate on the athlete would be great (in my opinion, FWIW!)
