Joey and Phoebe's Greyton holiday. Don't know how I'm going to talk them into going home again.

Not really a dog person but is that a 'natural pool', looks nice.

My first Boxer went blind, he managed quite well, our Dalmatian would guide him with a gentle shoulder charge to help him move in and out of the house. Really cool. Makes me sad to think of it though.

I took him to the vet as we'd noticed he'd become blind and we wanted to know why. The vet couldn't really answer but gave us a few tips on how to manage him. He lasted for about two years as a fully blind fella. He died of a stroke.

The vet told a story of how a woman had brought her dog in saying it had gone blind overnight. He told her this was close to impossible without other obvious symptoms and on inspection of the dog's eyes he saw the animal had been blind for some time, probably well over six months.

He then asked had anything changed at home and she replied she'd bought new furniture and redecorated.

It turned out the dog's eyesight had probably gradually deteriorated and it knew the house very well and once the new furniture was installed it had started bumping into things and only then had the owner noticed the do was blind!

I spent quite a bit of time at Husky Haven this holiday which is where Husky Rescue house their dogs looking for homes. This time of year is always very bad for all animal shelters but the one day I was there they were having problems with a girl that was being bullied by another female in the same run but being so full they could not move her to another run. I volunteered to foster her until a home can be found.

Apparently we have already been nominated for the "Foster failure of the year" award as it looks like Tequila might well be staying with us permanently. :)

Here is a fantastic pic of her after one of our walks.

After our walk yesterday we took the dogs to Parkhurst for breakfast.

After reading your post on Facebook about your bonus and helping out @Huskyrescue I was truly inspired and in awe about what you did  I'm planning on doing the same here in Bloemfontein. Still no one here is looking out for the furry Husky creatures and will try and help where I can. If I had the money and space I would own a whole pack of them. Truly magnificent animals!

the husky romi & wolf sanctuary in Reitz does some good work and they have beautiful animals there. Larry will always try and fit in another Husky in need even if it means he goes without. I haven't been there in ages though :-(

There is someone working with Husky Rescue in Bloemfontein, if you send me a msg I will get you his contact details, I think he could do with some help.
