Hii guys - 29 days for me today, no ciggs!

Im a junkie and an addict for ciggs, started young, around 15, and tried to quit a few times over the years, which turned to decades. Turned 40 last year, and vowed to myslef i was done, I tried everything over the last 2 years, allan carr (book and seminaar) champix, hypnosis, cold turkey, but every time i went longer than a day or so my mind would completely freak out, couldn't concentrate, couldn't think, couldn't work.. it was bad. In Jan this year gave one of those twisp e ciggs a try - so far so good, started with a high nicotine content, weened down to a middle content, and now onto a low dosage, the plan is to ween the amount of nicotine out completely, then just leave the e-cigg alone entirley.

Its working for me so far, im not convinced that im a non smoker, but at least im not smoking ciggs, dont smell like a asstray and ive broken some of the crucial habits/routines that needed breaking, like the first one in the am.

To all the others out there, well done and keep it up.

Sounds like my story. I use Nicorettes. Started with the 4mg and today I started with the 2mg. One month of that and then zilch. You can do it man!

Hang in there guys, it's a massive achievement to give up the stinkies. It must be one of the biggest test of will power but goes to show how strong the mind can be when it wants too. Well done to @pieter1 and @kerradoh and all the non smokers on lehub. Me I am 15 weeks stinky free today. Ok admittedly I have taken up vaping for my nic fix but the rest of me, and around me, are very grateful. Like I say 'nou trap ek n fiets raak'

Jis the last few days have been rough. Not sure if it is going from the 4mg to the 2mg nicorettes or what but I had a hard time not smoking. Stil feeling good tho and I’m starting to lose weight. How are the rest of you doing?

For me when I stopped I just stopped and went cold turkey. Not knocking people but for me to substitute cigarettes with vaping or chewing gum would never have worked. Once I have made up my mind to do something then come hell or high water I will see it through.

But then I have a bit of a stubborn streak in me.

7 years now. Also went the cold Turkey road. For me it was the routine and social aspect of smoking that made it difficult to quit. Tried a puff at a boys night a couple of years ago and luckily got so sick that it completely stopped the cravings.

Started smoking when I was 16, so this year marks 23 years of me being hooked on nicotine. I didn't make it a New Years resolution to quit smoking, but I am planning on kicking the habit in the near future.

Hahahaha! Ja I wish I could, I probably can, but every time I tried cold turkey I was such an unpleasant person that I just smoked to stay sane. I used to smoke close to two packs a day, since I quit my wife is also smoking a lot less so I’m glad about that.

Some Monday motivation.... Exactly 10 years ago to the day I quite smoking. It was meant to be the 1st march but I had a little wobble after 3 days and started the clock again. Quit cold turkey.

Well done dude! I had a little hick up but back on the straight and narrow.

Resurrecting an old thread... I stopped smoking 9 days ago with the aid of patches. I used to smoke almost a pack a day. I tried it last year using the stage 2 15mg patch but I didn't see it through. This time I am on the stage 1 25mg patch and it's working like a charm.

As a bit of inspiration after just 7 days the difference on the bike is HUGE. My previous best up Suikerbossie was 7min flat... 7 days clean I did it quite easily in 6min 36sec.
