Is AB gonna be the new captain?

I heard that fat Graeme might make a comeback.

AB was vice' and has now stepped up to captain until the end of this series

The search for a VC is on.

And possibly the next long-term captain.

I see that Bavuma is getting some serious media attention. I don't know if this is good or not. I am not disputing the significance of the event of the first Black South African to score a test hundred. I just don't know if so much emphasis should be placed on this in the middle of an important series. I'd much rather have the kiddo focus on his batting and fielding than doing press conferences at this stage.

That has been firmly confirmed by Biff as a negative.

More pressure on an already pressured AB....oh well....

In all the fuss of people rushing to say what a great player Hashim Amla is and how criticism of him is unfair, I haven't heard a decent explanation from anyone in-charge for why he stepped down mid-series.

Such a move is really significant and the main 'news-point' of the story, acknowledgement of a major failing somewhere.

I also believe there is a bigger reason behind the scenes as to why he decided to step down mid series.

Very weird indeed

Hopefully its the first step in replacing the coaching staff as well. I wonder if Andy Flower would be willing to vacate his job in Pakistan to come and take on the Proteas. Being a born South African, having to deal with English Cricket politics and coming from a Zimbabwe cricket background also strewn with racial equality challenges, he may just be the right man to take SA Cricket forward.

Ja. AB isnt himself. He has such incredible talent that he still performs but he seems a touch flat

Place your bets!! Who can it be, surely not the same bloke that was involved with the Hansie-Gate?

Was just wondering about this myself! I heard Neil M on the radio and it seems to be a fringe player who 'played once or twice' for the Proteas, but I'm not sure how long ago. If my guess was based on the one player who has the most totally inexplicable variations in form, skill, talent and results, I couldn't look past a certain spin bowler. But I think he was in India when the Ram slam was on, so probably not!

Faaaaarrrrkkkk! This is bad. It actually pisses me off to think that I watch these games, enjoy it..... But... Thinking that the game result was predetermined isnt right.

Usually fixing entails underperformance on some level as punters place spot-bets on, say, an opening batsman getting less than 10 runs or a bowler bowling more than 3 wides. It is very difficult to swing a result as you essentially need quite a few players to participate to successfully swing a result. It may have a baring on the results, but it is not the aim of the exercise. It does not make it any more palatable. The reality is that the sponsors will probably withdraw, our sides may get disqualified to participate in the Champoins League and players and intermediaries face stern legal action.

India?? Hello?? More reason to suspect him.

Could be any of a few players. The cobras totally threw the semifinal away, but I don't think that was in purpose. Viableex proteas candidates I can think of given the info: Justin ontong, Robin petersen, Justin kemp, morne van wyk, albie morkel, alviro petersen, Colin Ingram

I got a feeling it might be Robin Petersen

Lets all speculate until more info comes to light (because thats how bikehub works). T.b.h. it could be anyone. So I'll throw my name in here as well... Jonty did it.

I don't think Robbie can really be called a fringe player as he played more than 50 ODI's for SA

I'm bit disappointed and impressed that the name is still a secret - usually these things get out very quickly
