Besides food shortages and mass scale job losses, Nationalization of farms will cause the best farms to be taken by elite government connected cadres, and I will not be welcome to ride there anymore. Most farms will just deteriorate to the point of being unridable and it will not be safe anyway. I must say that in the Western Cape it seems more and more farmers are opening mtb trails. Here in Somerset West I am spoilt with choices to ride, probably one of the best places to live in the world to ride mtb - maybe just not the best place to do long distance epic type training. And it is mostly due to some individuals or clubs putting in really hard work to cultivate great relationships and goodwill between Mtbikers and private as well as public landowners. Its just sad that things are like this while in Europe it seems cyclists have more freedom to ride where they want and even passing through private land is generally not a problem.My experience of riding in Europe in the mid/late nineties was the exact opposite - 'armed escorts' off farms in the UK, France, Belgium and Spain, and many a rapid exit before seeing any evidence of shotgun. Mates still riding in the UK and France still have similar challenges, and often on what are, legally, 'public rights of way'. Land access is a universal challenge and Christoph, as decent a guy as you appear to be, you have, as a guest here, behaved particularly badly. I`m thinking I am actually incorrect regarding this indecent since I don`t think there is any public land between the farms he tried to go through. I think many pro cyclists are or become inconsiderate like this for some reason, it`s like all they care about is their sport and stuff all the rest.
