Great one Jimmy, you are going to become famous for it.

 

I've heard a story (legend perhaps?) of a guy that rides to the mast once a year on his BMX, but a full on DH rig simply has to trump that!

To all the guys who mentioned Morzine. It's Much more than just Morzine. The region is called the Ported du Soleil. PDS for short.

 

It's not out of reach AT ALL. I'm going with mates again this year in late June. In close proximity to Morzine is also Les Gets, Chatel, Lindarettes, Morgins, Crosets and of course Champery. 24 ski lifts. 650km of marked trail. It will blow your mind. You can do a 2 week trip for 16-18k all in. Check out my budget for this years trip.

The air ticket is for Emarites CT-Dubai-Geneva. A 13 day lift pass is R1400. Accomodation is DIRT cheap in the summer in the Alps. For Alpine virgins I'd recommend basing yourself in Morzine as It's the biggest town in the region and is more or less in the center of all the action.

 

The lifts in Morzine (2 Mountains) and Les Gets (3 Mountains) open on the 16th of June. The rest of the PDS lifts open on the 29th of June. The Chatel Mountain Style (worth watching) is on the 7th & 8th of July. There's also the Passportes Du Soleil All mountain race.

 

Whistler has 2 lifts and a trip will cost you 60k. the PDS has 24 ski lifts and is MUCH cheaper. For 60k you can do 3 trips to Morzine. No contest in my head
