Has the ABSA CAPE EPIC lost its appeal or is it just too expensive?

I pulled out of the EPIC in early December due to work and family committments !Since then I have advertised my entry at cost on the hub - not one taker , NOT EVEN ONE ENQUIRY !!! Since then I have tried to return it to the organisers who sent me a mail back saying they have a waiting list of people looking to offload their entries.

In previous years these would have been snapped up. I am now offering my entry at a discount - R28000 negotiable (+- R7500 off the lsit price) - still no takers !

.....and there other entries for sale on the hub !!!

Interesting.

I've always wanted to do it and am certainly fit enough to just jump on. Once the ticket prices have reached 20k I'll consider it. :-)

wow, it appears 30% increases can't be done to perpetuity. fancy that!

Yeah, I think it's mainly the price and then, with people wanting to sell, others who are slightly interested, aren't fit enough for the race to warrant purchasing the entry.

bit of both, i'd love to do the Epic but it is well pricey and if i got a reduced entry i would definitely not be fit enought now to do it. It is a fiarly big commitment in terms of training leading up to it.

I had to give up my entry a number of years ago due to injury and concussion.

The organisers bought it back no problem. There was a waiting list for celebs/sponsored riders as well as the rest.

Def losing its glitter.

The new format in the Cape might have something to do with it.Its not the same as the old route

Plus I believe team events are losing their vibe.(I am talking about the team here)

There is a big swing and interest to solo

I reckon most guys who committed to doing the Epic has bought their entries. I would love to do it, but its too late to start training now and still get to Epic levelr of fitness. I reckon if you train and have to balls to hold out to the last week you'll get an entry for next to nothing.

The epic has turned into nothing more than a dick measuring contest, Would much rather do the DCM Pioneer which is not only a tougher race with a nicer vibe, its almost half the price.

For me, Epic has a huge appeal and I will do it one day ( find a sponsor to pay the entry ) ,so just the cost is my excuse .

R28000 odd on entry or a new bike each year , i go with new bike.
