great news... jannie is a chjop anyway! jersey puller -_-

How many other "Chjops" are there in the side? Jannie remains one of the best tightheads in the world and in a specialised position such as this we are very thin on the ground in SA. Looseheads are a tiekie a dozen and I believe that a talent such as Stephen Kitshoff should be converted now. He has age and growing strength on his side.

Durban – Following the Sharks’ emphatic win over Western Province at the weekend, flyhalf Pat Lambie had one person in particular he wanted to thank for helping ensure the Currie Cup trophy returned to Durban.

It was the team’s kit manager, Michael Khumbuza.

Removing his match jersey after the game, Lambie wrote: “Thank you for all your help, you are a true champion”, on the black and white standard before handing it to a disbelieving Khumbuza.

Khumbuza had only moments earlier watched his team destroy the Capetonians from the sidelines at Newlands, and the touching tribute capped off his experience perfectly.

“I can’t explain the feeling,” said Khumbuza, laughing, when he spoke to The Mercury this week.

“The win was so exciting, especially because the Western Province fans had been booing us,” he said.

Khumbuza, who started working for the Sharks last November, is responsible for collecting, washing, and distributing the team’s kit, as well as assisting the players and coaches at practice.

“I am proud of my job, I love my job and I feel part of the team,” he said.

While one of Khumbuza’s dreams had been to watch the team win the Currie Cup, another desire was fulfilled on his trip to the Mother City.

“It was my first time travelling in an aeroplane,” he said.

“I told my brother I was going to be the first person from my family in an aeroplane,” he said, adding that he took pictures of himself in-flight to show everyone.

“I want to say thank you to John Smit, Brendan Venter (director of rugby), and Trevor Barnes (team manager) for making these dreams come true. They make me feel like an important part of the team and I have experienced a lot with them.”

pahahaha

wait you are joking right?

He does nothing other than hold an average scrum! he is found wanting on defence game in and game out..

Kitshoff gave him a great show on the wkend and unlike jannie, kitshoff puts in the hits and lasts longer than 45mins!

if we really want to contend for the NO.1 position in world rugby, we need players that can do alot more than their primary job on the field, and other than at scrum time jannie's general play is at max 2/10!

I agree. He is a passenger in the side. Time for him to go practice medicine.

I love these armchair expert cynics, obviously they know that the useless JduP has been pulling the wool over Sharks & Bok coaches eyes for years (or has something on them); the same cynics probably sneer at Robbie Hunter and Darryl Impey; beaten by skinny Chris Froome.

Personally I'll stick with what the coaches say. Other players may be marginally better here and there; but JduP ain't a useless passenger methinks. But that is SA rugby "kenners" for you.

Good to have one of our own back.

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks." Shakespeare, Hamlet, act III, scene II, unfortunately also tinged with being a bit suurtiet, as per normal Wee Pee supporters.

PS, I have it on good authority that the "sjarqies" mingling and getting infected after the game was paid extras from the Peninsula Technikon Drama Department.

If you're going to quote Shakespeare, do it properly.

They all got teary when John Mitchell started talking too loudly for their liking. Wonder how they'll react to a good ol can of whipass as only Rudolph can dish out.
