Also called the Blues beating Bulls but by 7, Reds beating Rebels knocked me.

Still very tight, combined log 8 points separate 2nd place from 10th.

Bad weekend for SA teams.

Not wanting to sound alarmist or pessimistic, but I do sense that we are in dire straits with RWC just around the corner. The foundation of the Bok squad is either not up to scratch in the S15 or injured, and form players won't be blooded into Bok rugby in a RWC year.

Big problems I foresee (in order of significance):

tighthead (3)

scrumhalf

open-side flank (6)

centre-pairing (12,13)

locks (4,5)

Indeed

It really hurt watching the Leeutjies being outplayed.

Hope they can still surge forward with a few more wins.

my crystal balling has the super rugby playoffs with 3 kiwi teams, 2 aussie ones and a single SA team.

that's assuming the crusaders don't have their usual late surge and bump one of the aussie teams out.

who will that SA team be?

I don't think even the bluest of bulls supporters are that confident of them turning their tour around enough to make the top6 after last weekend.

Lions are running out of options...they have only got three games left and are level on points with the saders. they need to win all three, get some bonus and hope for some other results.

The stormers are now out of the top6 - BUT have got the easiest run in of all the teams in possibly the competition. If they can get their sh(7 together it might not be all doom and gloom. Here's my unapologetically optimistic longshot of the finals.

Step1:Stormers win most of their closing games, in fact all they really need to do is finish top of the SA conference, and have more points than whoever wins the Aus one(brumbies or tahs)

Step2: The home semifinal will probably be against the winner of the aussie conference. they should be beaten.

Step3 - final - the hurricanes have basically sewn up the top of the log slot, so they get the final, assuming they don't slip up in the semi(in which case it would be at newlands)...either way, They are definitely beatable (stoempies got a bitlot unlucky in the league game there).

stormers are 8/1 on this...i would go for that.

don't worry HM has got Victor Matfield and Fourie du Preez to sort out all our problems. Oh yes and Muscles Spies.
