BigGuy Posted March 9, 2012 Share From Tim Noakes column: "We are currently researching a group of serious and some elite athletes who have adopted the Banting diet and who have found that their performances have improved substantially with weight loss and reduction of their carbohydrate intakes both before and during racing. We need to understand why this is possible." At least some good will come of this; the man is not going to rest until he gets his answer. I cannot think of anybody more perfect for the job. Wyatt Earp Posted March 9, 2012 Share I read about this. A good load of carbs are still crucial to endurance performance though. You really are out of your depth on this one.I support Noakes on this theory.I rode 24 hout two years back as a test pig on this protein plan, all a-for-away

lloydkayak Posted March 9, 2012 Share I dropped from 135kg to 110kg in 2.5 months during varsity a couple o years back doing Atkins. Kept most of that off. Went back to a "normal" diet". Started using Dukan principles since the end of January and I am down to about 100kg (Lightest since school days) Me thinks I might be CR. hehe I am a full advocate for cutting back on the carb!
