Sorry, only saw the question now.  Depending on the ground of your coffee it can take anything from 30 seconds to super duper fine 5 minutes.  So it gives you enough time to grind your coffee whilst you are boiling the water for the coffee.

Fresh ground is the best after all :)

No worries, appreciate your replies!

Got the older version of the Aeropress from Scuzzy today (thanks again Scuzzy) and the question I must ask is why did they change the design? Version 1 worked great! Better than the new version.

But still love my aeropress. Quick easy and no fuss coffee!

Whats different?

The old one just feels better. It has a subtle blue cast to the plastic and the seal, well it just seals better.

So I am not sure if the seal is to goo and you have to push more, but the coffee puck in the old one comes out dry, where in the new one, it is wet.

Same amount of coffee, same ground and same volume of water used.

Or maybe it is just that I like older things more, but still IMHO it feels better than Gen 2

Agree with Beesrib.  Aeropress to the rescue at our office as well.  Hate the Coffee here.  Even when fresh. it is a foal mix of chemicals that would strip paint from metal...

Need to find a place in Pretoria with fresh beans.  People selling "fresh" roasts in PTA does not know what that means.  Things standing in a big open crate after being roasted does not mean fresh...

Where can I get good quality coffee in Pretoria. Tried a few places, but I am sick of getting stale beans. Why would you call yourself a coffee roaster, roast beans and store them in a open crate?

By he time you get the beans, there are no flavor and no Co2 left in the beans

Depends on the store, my local keeps his roasted beans in steel buckets in the front of the store but he refills them at least once a week on the slowest selling bean!

If it stands for more than a week and half then its ***

Hi Guys..

I have occasionally been checking in with this thread but not following it page for page. I am sure that somewhere in the last 267 pages that this has been asked and answered before.. Sorry if it has but to go through all the pages will take me a few days, I will try and read them all in December

But my question is: What options are there for a manual machine at +- R10k?

I had a Breville Venezia, I know it is basically a junk machine but i used it until it finally packed up this morning after 5 years of daily use and now I am looking to get something much more decent. The grinder that I am using is a Krups Burr Grinder which I also plan on upgrading in the next few months.

While investigating, I found the Aeropress available online here Not sure what the postage costs though.

for the last 3 years I discovered that I really like natural coffee. daily drink three cups of coffee each morning, afternoon and evening. I wanted to drink more but I'm afraid not to misuse :) of how many kinds of coffee I drank the loudest I like illy. Also usually drink in town until a month ago. I bought myself a coffee machine - saeco incanto and I am very pleased.

Has anyone heard anything about the La Pavoni Gran Craffe machine?

Trying to decide between this and the Isomac maverick.

I have a LaPavoni PRO lever and it's a solid machine.

The maverick is a good machine but really needs a pid to get the best out of its very small boiler - I am not sure how it compares to that LaPavoni but will look it up for you.

What do you plan to use for a grinder?
