That Lelit is just another chromebox machine, probably identical to the isomac... and that grinder it comes free with is an isomac grinder...

If he isnt going plumbed then he is better off with an HX.. having to constantly fill will get old fast!

HX machines use a lot more water than dual boilers - the water dance is not necessary on a db at all.

The lelit is substantively different to the isomac dual boiler - just look at the boiler sizes... http://www.isomac.it/model.asp?id=38

my machine also goes through a fair amount of water - more than the Oscar if I recall. Reckon it might need a service as well, had it for almost a year now.

Same :/ and I really like my SJ

The grind retention is a bit of a pain though. I removed the "grate" and it's improved somewhat.

Yeah it retains a lot of grinds, I use a small brush every time

Yep. Exactly why I hate it. Small brush.

Hi guys, need some advice. Getting a Chemex and am wondering if I could get away with using my Super Jolly for this brew method? Alternatively I have a Krupps burr grinder as well?

You can use the sj - but going back and forth to espresso settings will be a pain - remember to run the grinder when changing settings

that's my concern along with the resultant wastage as well. Do I have to have beans in while making the big adjustment?

If you are making the grind looser then you don't have to have it running strictly speaking - but in practice I find it easier when running for both courser and finer adjustments - but there is for sure some waste - I normally just collect it and use it in the filter machine from time to time - fine for non discriminating guests - also works fine in a bialetti pot which seems is not particularly fussy on grind.

In your case I would try to find equivalent grinds on both grinders and see if there is a discernable taste difference - if not then the Krupps would become a brew grinder and the sj revert to espresso only.

Okay. So I'm in the market for a manual grinder. Keen to hear user experiences. Options are the Hario Skerton, mini mill or the Porlex. The grind adjustment on the Skerton sounds like a bit of a pain. Locally available would be preferable and these are all available at present.
