Hi guys,

I am looking at getting a Jura machine, but not sure if it is worth paying the extra R5k for the Impressa C90 OT over the Ena Micro 9 OT.

It will be for home use, 2 people and moderate use.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

Probably not worth spending the extra.... the bigger machines will require less maintenance to keep them running, because they have bigger water reservoirs and bean hoppers - but for home use the Ena is just fine for use - even though you will be refilling more often than the bigger machine

Thanks V12man, I was also thinking that the smaller bean hopper might be better for our use. Beans should stay fresher. Coffee for breakfast and at supper time and a bit more over the weekend.

The only way to keep fresh beans fresh is to package them in sealed packets and put them in a deep freeze without an auto defrost cycle... And even then it's not infinite - they do age...

Best is to find a local roaster and buy in quantities that match your useage, so they never get old, they just get used... luckily I live close to a few roasters.

Got my machine sorted out by the great people at Gourmet Coffee in Saxenburg park.

Yis it feels like a totally new machine, so much more pressure than before, had me starting from scratch again to get a decent cup.

In the end it was a blockage due to dirt somewhere.

I'm sorry to say that I had exactly the opposite experience with them. Took my Expobar there to sort out the steam boiler, which (still) isn't refilling reliably. They had it a week then phoned to say it was sorted. I collected it and paid, schlepped it home and found it was exactly as before. When I went back their technician said he hadn't found anything wrong with it (this, after telling me it was fixed and taking my money).

I blew a fuse and demanded my money back. That was four or five months ago - haven't heard from them, or got a cent back, but I can't bear to talk to them. I've been looking around for someone else to fix it, but I don't make cappuccinos myself so I keep putting it off. I have heard from someone else in the trade that he, too, has problems with their technical department, so it's not just me. They are good for spares, though...

Fix it yourself... there is enough guidance on-line to figure that one out easily enough.... try removing and cleaning/replacing the water level sensor first...

Anyone seen this cool looking device? Anyone have one and care to comment on it?

They have now changed their name to ROK, which means that the Presso branded ones are old stock.

On the manufacturer's website they show videos of how they make "espresso" with pre ground coffee, which leaves a lot to be desired if their R&D is at the same level of their taste.
