I discovered a secret benefit of spending truck loads of money on a decent grinder and machine.

At restaurants I now drink water. Not a soda drinker and fed up with paying money for a disappointing cup of coffee I just ask for water and drink my coffee at home. I figure in about 20 years I will be breaking even with this system

My humble little coffee spot has sprouted a new machine.

It's an isomac cafetera, quite old but still makes a good espresso.

Add a PID and it will be a perfect machine for home use.

My work machine is also a similar sized Isomac, but the PID improves it by 1000%.

Waiters must love you

I have Rooibos tea or I say if it's sheet and you say it's good I'm sending it back. And I have, and received better coffee the 2nd time. Some places have a "barista" but sommer anyone makes the coffee most of the time and you get worse coffee then.

Very cool with the PID, i definitly need to see that all working!

With this isomac when you steam milk do you have to hold the steam button or just press it once?

Press the steam button to swap to the higher temp thermostat for steam - it stays in (on) until you release it - mine uses the PID for both steam and brew temps, but the buttons work the same as they always did, so aside from temperature management, you can ignore the PID completely - although mine controls the 2 temp settings, as well as a pre-infusion cycle and a brew cycle time off a button on the PID.

You also need to open the steam wand to release water so you create space for the steam in the boiler (different from an HX/DB based machine) and then close it when no more water comes out - easier to demonstrate than describe...

Takes a lot longer to make a cappa than on an HX/DB machine. - crema is nearly always gone by the time the milk is done.

Ja nee that demo you gave me really hit that home. SB isn't really an option if you want a milk drink.
