Oh you are flipping kidding me. I spent all my money already and have loads of stuff to shoot in the studio. This I don't need.

So where can I get these mods done then?

Strictly DIY... :) adding the OPV and gigleur should be pretty easy though - harder to source parts... although the giggler from the musica should fit perfectly.

His temperature measurement toys are good though.. clearly he has some machining capability as well as knowing his way around espresso machines and electrical/mechanical engineering... :)

Now you see why more expensive machines might be cheaper in the long run.... less mods to do... :)

There are plenty of threads on how to add and OPV and gigleur to the Oscar on all the big espresso sites.... clearly people think they are worthwhile additions, but probably void your warrantee.... unless you get the NS importer to do them... :)

The purging thing you pointed me at made a big difference.

I think I am going to do the best with what I have. My plan was always that this machine would do it for the next 3 or 4 years. The Breville lasted me 2. Before that was a plunger. I have no problem growing into this.

The machine is not the limiting factor at the moment - the Barista is... ;) no point in modifying the machine yet IMHO - not until you want to try and change a specific behaviour - when you figure our what you want to change, then you can make the mod - and it will be around temperature management most likely - so you have a better handle on what it is, and minimising variability after that.

Yesterday I was out on the road and stopped at a small coffee shop for lunch and a cup of coffee, when the coffee came it looked and tasted distinctly like a Nespresso, so I took a stroll to the counter and sure enough it was. The young lady said a top quality commercial coffee machine was out of her budget, but a top of the range Nespresso wasn't, so thats what she bought, and although the cost per cup is higher, her investment is much less, she recovers her cost quicker, she has never had complaints and its worked faultlessly. Seems like a win / win to me.

Some places would do much better coffee that way.

Flip I've had some terrible coffee!

Best is the place next to Troisport using the ESE pods

Did a road trip recently and was consistently disappointed by the coffee! Even when a place has a decent set up, there is no way of telling whether they have the required skill to produce the goods.

Reckon I've learnt my lesson to just stay away and drink something else instead.

I just drink Rooibos if I want a hot drink.

It's not easy making great coffee but really the average cup is so bad it's shocking.

It really should be higher, but then again with a Jakobs coffee nation that is unlikely to change very soon...

Hi there all

Enjoy a daily good cappuccino in the morning and looking at purchasing a decent coffee machine.

What does everyone think of the Nespresso U Milk machine? It is one of their latest machines and looks awesome. Apparently it makes a great cappuccino. Anyone have experience or heard of any reviews?

My price range is between 2k and 3k.

Thanks All

Interesting, but I don't see how a Nespresso machine handles the volume of a coffee shop. Also don't see how its good business. I have had my Nespresso for about 6 or 7 months in which time I have spent more on the pods than I did on the machine, and I am the only once drinking the stuff aside from the wife who has the odd decafinato once in a while. So, the Pod bill in a commercial set up, no matter how small, must be hectic.

:) - Yup, Nespresso (I think anyway) makes very little on the sale of the machine, their business is in the pods, pretty much like Amazon and Kindle, money is in the books you buy, not the reader. Well thats my theory anyway. :)

Yeah, I hear you but it was a small shop, maybe about 20 seats, a few more at a push so I think in that kind of low volume environment its okay, certainly a place like say Mugg and Bean could never survive using a Nespresso, but for a small place it means quality is always controlled, every cup is good and although the pod cost will be high, maybe the hassle free, zero waste factor is appealing, or maybe commercial businesses get pods cheaper, dont know, but it was Vivalto blend (Blue pod), one of my favorite's, so it was all good.

I think any of the Nespresso machines will be good for you, they are all good, take your pick.

If you just fancy a hassle free quality coffee then one of the small Nespresso machines (in my opinion anyway) will suit you fine.

Also how much did *you* pay for the coffee?

Cant recall exactly, but I think it was about 15 / 18 bucks, pretty much the average around here.

Yah, I concur, the worst is those places where they serve from a drip machine and the coffee lies there brewing on the hot plate for hours before its sold, ...........
