He said the cop chased him down at 160, not he was going 160.

My apologies. I'm ****less dumb for not reading properly

It is fair enough to fine you if your number plate is not visible. To pay the fine or not is your choice. The bottom line is that you are a law abiding motorist that received a fine whilst attempting to adhere to the law. Totally unlike all the windgatte on their superbikes in Bloem. It appears as if in Bloem if you ride a superbike you dont need to obstruct the visibility of your number plate, you just dont put a number plate on the bike! That then grants you the right to ride at 200kmph on the N1. Ride like a total tool in the city and give anybody the middle finger if they have any issues with this. Probably the same all over the country.

Jhb yes. KZN no. If you're caught in Durban without a plate on they impound your bike on the spot

Buy a roof rack next time. :)

My brother bought one of those... TWICE he rode his bike into the roof!!! the second time he did it with my bike on the roof rack too!-luckily the bikes were not damaged the second time.

If you get a roof rack... make sure you know your bike is up there...

He had to get his roof fixed twice... insurance paid more than R70K both times.

I have one made by Holdfast. Remember the law also applies to obscuring your rear light cluster.

Some has remarked it is a stupid law. Not stupid at all...... how would you fel if a car rear ended you becuase he did not see your lights. Bikes gone, no claim against insurance and possible loss of life. Go think again about your stupid statement!!!!!!!

DIY!? Me!? Pffff!! Seriously where can one buy it made already?

Both my old Geoff carrier and my new Thule one have places for number plates. I use them and have never had a problem. I don't see the point of this post. You failed to ensure your vehicle was roadworthy and got bust. Now you're blaming someone else?

Since when have we been living in America?

I always believe in the KISS Principle - Keep It Simple - Stupid.

Cheap but effective....and we are not financing a corrupt system...
