I really feel for you, but in today climate is it such a clever thing to leave 100k plus outside? and unlocked?

Think what you would have done with cash.

I really do feel for your loss, but lets leard from this and be a bit more realistic.

Lock your valuable up properly.

Good news and an update:

1. Teams are on the way to McKenzie to have a chat to Farmer Glen about moviong entry to next year. Let's hope!!!

Good news...

A bike has been found. The Cannondale Lefty. Went back to the area where trailer was found and upon scouting the surrounding bushes another bike was found in the middle of a large haak-en-steek bush! I suspect they dumped it there to wait for town to calm down and then collect tonight..Glad to have found it...OUCH to get out!! But at least some more smiles doing the rounds

Seems it is though!

For some maybe, a lot is also on perception.

Essentially calling the guy stupid for doing something most if us would do in that situation, yes the bikes got stolen. But out of the thousands of riders that pass through, an exception. No need to insinuate the oke was stupid, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Glad some of the bikes have been recovered pedal menace, seems the cops and co were on the ball....

I was half expecting to read about murder or death on the road ... relieved that is not the case.

Guys can make a plan I am sure, its just replaceable material goods. Insured on all risks hopefully.

The “it is just material things” argument is very little consolation I’m afraid. With the hijackings threads that is often fronted as a “make me feel better” proposition. If I was in the OP’s position I won’t be feeling better about having my property stolen (material things or not).

We’re getting satisfied with less. 20 years ago we were happy about being able to ride our bikes without having to worry about being hijacked. Nowadays we must be satisfied with being able to ride our bikes while constantly looking over our shoulders so we don’t get attacked. And should we suffer that unfortunate circumstance it’s okay provided they only take the bike and don’t hurt you? Even better, I was sleeping in a warm bed at the guesthouse while they stole my bike so I got nothing to moan about?

You’ll excuse me for not being overjoyed with that.

I can't say I agree with the "it could have been worse" philosophy. Of course for most of us, any bad situation could always "be worse", but that's rarely a consolation. "Bad" is relative, don't try to make me feel better by telling me about how much worse it could have been . . .

I hope you guys can salvage something from this situation.
